fnuser the socks dry out alot faster too. lined boots are a pain in the butt if they get wet at least with unlined boots dry socks are all you need to stay comfy.

Is that Bata from Zlin in the Czech Republic?

Dont know where they are from but been using these in rain, hail or shine for years..

when you know chinese, maybe you understand this: www.bata.cz/

if not, try www.bata.com Smile

And for your info: Bata was a famous czech family, banned from Czech Republic by the communists, but did get their belongings and shoe factories back when the iron curtain went down.
So whenever you're walking and your feeth start to feel heavy, think about czech women and your feeth immedeatly will feel lighter... just a tip, but I don't know if it will also work without visiting CR first Smile

@Stovey: is this still tootsie-related?

bata bullets were a light weight sand shoe that were all the rage when I was a kid 33 odd years ago. the funny thing is you can now buy the same type of shoes /basketball boots from the warehouse. they were made of canvas with a soft rubber sole not too unlike a jungle boot.no air pockets or bling bling in those days just good hard wearing sneakers. the tv add for them had the line "how can a kid be a kid without a pair of bullets"

Dunlop Volleys and Gym Boots were the ducks guts for us as kids...I still have a couple of pairs of Volleys...great for fishing.

I'm due a pair, I bought my last ones in "98 , I was kicking around the idea of going leather with good soles and paying big bucks for some real nice socks. Comparatively you can buy some pretty nice wooleys for alot less then high tech linings.

I get my socks from Ebay. Yet to find a better sock for less.

cgi.ebay.com/2prs-Extr...588b7082bc

Other than a gum boot- waterproof is loosely used. I mean, yeh, they'll shed it but, once it starts raining it'll find it's way in somehow. At least in my price range. So I go for some light insulation in there and a good sock. Carry a Zippo too, just in case I need to dry out. Can't beat wool. I treat my socks right too, don't wear them unless my boots are on, check 'em good after a wash. I hate stuff in my boots/socks, makes me nuts!

Aloy, I grown up in Indonesia.
The local language translation for the word "bata" is "brick", so literally I am wearing bricks Smile

The thing is back where I was a little boy, there is a Bata factory down the road from the farm we live in.
A lot of my mates go there to work after school.
Who the factory belong to or where the brand came from is never been speculated.
They made good shoes.. thats all I know..

Bata's
used to wear them as school shoes.
Very cool, animal foot prints moulded into the sole AND the very useful compass in the heel.
Their steel capped work boots were never that cool.

I bought these 2 years ago at Cabela's, and I love them. They stay dry, they're comfortable, cool weather you only need a pair of light sox. Cold weather, a good pair of woolies, and you're set.

Comfortable, light weight & hardwearing.

A damn fine looking pair of boots Mike...but at 130 quid...they ain't cheap mate.

Another boot that gets a fair bit of use out here are Danners...but again, a bit rich for my wallet.

Danner Boots

Cheers, Vince

I expect 10 years out of them, so £13 a year is cheap compared with boots half the price that only last a couple of years.

The red bands are my Rabbits, pheasant and trout fishers as well as wear to and from work, weddings, town etc. The black ones are my deer and pig boots. Like Elvis said - total comfort and good traction, waterproof.

No Vince, they have not been used for nefarious purposes with sheep!

My Boots, well a couple of pairs I use all the time.

The Red bands are Farming Gumboots and the Ashleys are the lace up gumboots that Elvis and I obviously use hunting.

I work in railroad construction and usually just wear the same boots for hunting that I wear for work. In the Summer I use a hot weather boot made by Belleville Boot Co. for the USMC. They are lightweight and dry real quick. I get about 2 years out of them walking on railroad ballast which will kill some boots in less than a week.
