We need to be concerned about executive orders and administrative regulations. That is not the legislative process. I have to believe the House of Representatives will not sit still for this nonsense. All the best...

Gil is right, Obama did the same with the Libya conflict and did an executive order bypassing congress. Hopefully common sense will prevail.
Here is another article on this. Obama and Guns
Lets See: Government recommends
Eco-Tollets: I have to flush twice when I go, I only had to flush once before “eco-friendly toilets”
-We have the Chevy Volt, only the federal government buys them cause the “eco-friendly car can only
go about 70 miles on the battery”
-Now somebody in the Whitehouse is going to tell me how to use my gun…probably make me use “Eco-friendly smoke-less gunpowder that won’t fire a shell”
Thats big brother for us.

Good one, Elvis! This administration stinks!! The only thing that exceeds their incompetence is their arrogance.

Ain't that the truth Gelan. Look what happened when they got all of the so-called stakeholders together...who ended up being the actual "writers of the Rule and Regulations"...the State Police Commissioners, who in conjunction with the Politicians wrote the laws in such a way that once enacted the Police could change the parameters without it having to go back through Parliament.
Good luck guys...the writing is on the wall.
Cheers, Vince

Those anti-gun zealots define reasonable gun controls as: ".. we will take half of your guns now, and the other half later..." Take care...

I think the second comment under the Frumforum said it all, inaugeration vs coronation...methinks you have a BO problem!
Our right of center Govt at least isn't on the 'ban the guns' wagon....yet!
Our laws whilst draconian to you Americans actually aren't too bad here. Hand guns are for the select few, and gangs and crims at least don't have very many which makes my job just that bit safer.
I think the Aussies got it a lot worse, and their crims and gangs don't give a hoot, they just keep bringing them in from Indo and other routes.

Radar, isn't that the whole point? The CRIMINALS can always get guns because they don't care about the laws. That is why disarming the LAW ABIDING is so foolish! "Gun control" is just another way to control the law abiding people in a country. The US Founding Fathers knew this, having seen it attempted by the British govt. on its American colonies, hence our Second Amendment.

Gun control has nothing to do with reducing crime.
It's really social control & a means to ensure citizens do as they are told by their "elected representatives".

Pumpkin,
don't get me wrong, I can see that a freely armed society will eventually hit an equilibrium so long as its fair on everyone. Taking what effectively is a purely defensive capability from the general public is wrong, but there are those who choose to sit outside the moral, ethical and legal standards we set ourselves as a society and THATS where the laws must be aimed. If they don't play by the "rules" they deserve to have society shun or expunge them from that society. (Its also the same arguement for immigrants!)
I just think that we are lucky here down under that our crims do not have ready access to handguns and or high capacity firearms. They do have them but they sure as sh1t don't want to use them because the govt agency response would be similar to the Walnut and sledge hammer analogy. The Anti Terrorist Raids in Ruatoki in 2008 are testament to that.
