So my brother and I were reloading for my Big 7 the other night and we started talking about this old press he had set up on his loading bench. It was given to him by a friend and works great but the only shell holder he has for it does not take the magnum cases which is an issue as he and I both have guns that run magnum cases. The press as you probably figured out by the title of this post is an RF Wells model C. I really like the press as it is stout and looks pretty cool to. We have been unable to dig up much information on where we could get shell holders that would work on it. The shell holders are the screw on type, not the bases we commonly know today. I am hoping that someone here can shed some light on the situation as I am hoping if I can get the stuff for it I am going to try to get it from my brother. Any help would be appriciated thanks.

If I was going to get that press I would make an adapter for the ram that screwed on in place of the shell holder that would accept the standard holders. You would have to shorten the ram the height of the adapter to keep the geometry the same but it would make a useful press into a modern press.

Yup...A little "yankee engineering" is what that press needs.

I would give these guys a call ch4d !!!

Under products open the drop down for presses you'll find a Herters adapter from what I'm reading this might work.

The Herters adapter that I have found on midwayusa definitly will not work. The RF Wells type is a screw on type and they are not.

You are correct but Herters also had a screw type. CH makes both types of adapters.
