Just a update... The smith I took the barrel to actually (after diggin through boxs) found a set of rings that would fit the cantilever Very Happy there low rings so I can't use anything over a 32MM bell but thats fine .. It was cheaper than putting a different base on it, so I put a 2-7 Leupold I had laying around on it . It should do just fine. Hopfully I can get to range soon and see how it shoots.

Hope the barrel does what ya want! Thank goodness for gun smiths who don't throw anything out!

Glad to hear that Joe !!!

I'd be sure to let the guy that stiffed ya know everything worked out.........of course I'd make it sound like it only took a couple of phone calls to figure things out and locate a set !!!

Sounds to me like it worked out well. Why would you want a bigger scope that what you have on a slug gun?

A larger bell ( objective) gathers more light. You can see better at dawn and dusk.

I agree. I finally got a scope that can do that but its pretty big and a bit heavy. It does add a few minutes to the day. I use my slug gun for in-close, fast reaction situations so rely on a red dot. A lighted reticle is also nice during low-light situations.

Joe, If you want better light transmission take a look at the Leupold 1.75-6x32mm VX3 Here

The lens system and light gathering capability is superior to any of the 2-7 models !!!

If you think you can sneak a 36mm on they also have a 2.5-8 of the same design.
