Had to put my 13 year old Labrador TANA down today. He had paralysis of the larynx caused by god knows what. Family all around him when the needle was plunged. we all fairly subdued tonite but I'll hoist a cold one to a faithful companion and mate. I'm sure he knew what was going on but he just wagged his tail and went to sleep- eternally.

That just 'effing sucks!!!!!!! I still miss my two cats and a few dogs growing up as well. The only thing I can tell you is that I believe the idea of the Rainbow Bridge is true!!!! Go and look for it might help ya' a bit! I would sure hate to think that the good animals from my life would not be able to go to nice place to play all the time with me and mine when I get where I am going.
And I think that eternal campfire would be mighty lonely without a few good "fur friends" to join in and sit beside us.
My thoughts are with ya'! I will also raise a toast to them as well!!! Far as I am concerned some animals ARE BETTER than alot of people I know!!!!

You got my sympathy Radar. We had to put our 15 yr old cat down about a month ago, and I swear I still hear him around the place, and feel him walking on our bed at night.
Nothing worse than having to do it, but there are times when it is the best thing for our pet.
Cheers, Vince

So sorry Radar, you have brought a tear to my eyes as i remember my white German shepherd i had to put down due to old age, about 6months ago. It broke my heart & distress my youngest son Zac who is 20 to see his old man weeping & crying like a child, as it's not a sight he is used to! As the anesthetic took hold i stroked his face as i told him what a good mate he has been, how much i loved him and i promised i will never forget him, and that i will think of him everyday day of my life.... A promise that i have kept! I have to go now as the screen & key board are too blurry to continue.
Cheers mate.... Erny.

A couple of years ago we got a pet baby goat that just dont make it pass his first autumn..
The children are all broken hearted.
They might be "just" animal, but they are part of the family.

Sorry to here that.
This is what was posted the day I had Spike put down, and I still tear up when I read this.
