How about: "noisy, dusty, doesn't clean the insides & primer pockets AND takes too long."

I don't really worry about the inside of my cases. Without a flashlight I can't see in there anyway. Besides after I seat the bullet you won't see in there either. As far as the primer pockets. It takes me all of about one (1) minute to clean 50 pockets with my special tool (that I made).

Takes too long. No...Not really. About 15 minutes before resizing/decapping and about 1 hour after. While they are in the [tumbler] for that 1 to 1 1/2 hour I'm usually preping other cases or setting up my bench and doing research for the next loading.

Dust? What dust? My [tumbler] is in the shop outside and under the house way in the corner. If I note a build up of "dust" I throw in a couple of [used] and cut up dryer sheets or paper towel. I have been known to dump the media on a piece of light plastic and treat it like chaff in a breeze (I'm cheap). I also add a cup full of Nufinish about every two to three runs.

Noise? That's a good thing. The [tumbler] is directly below my Reloading/Gun Room (Man Cave). I can just barely hear it and it reminds me that it is running. It can't be heard anywhere else in the house.

Oh...And By The Way...I don't get media stuck in the flash holes either. My media is ground very fine (corncob) and mixed with chromium oxide...

NEXT?!!? Very Happy

Chromium Oxide?
Well, maybe mixing it with the corn cob is enough of a buffer....
That stuff is an aggressive abrasive.

It's worked for around 15 years for me. Hasn't damaged any cases. Or shortened their life any. I have around 4 lbs left and the guy who made it retired and stopped marketing it.

Hey BushM!! I use a tumbler too and use a polishing rouge from a rock tumbler. It comes in a powder form and you only need about 1/2 teaspoon, even less. Anyway I wanted to share with you the way I take the brass out. I use a mesh bag, like you get from buying oranges in the grocery store. I put the mesh bag inside a paper shopping bag then dump the contents of the tumbler into the mesh bag. Bounce it up and down a few times and the powder is seperated from the brass and into the paper bag, ready for re-use. I use my air compressor to blow them off and after cleaning the primer pockets I rubber band them together and again use the air compressor to blow every last bit out of them. Works great. I use walnut shell that sometimes gets into the primer pockets but if you're going to clean them anyway, no big deal. I've used this method for years and a 1/2 teaspoon of rouge will last a good long wile too, just keep using the same stuff over and over, it coats the walnut shell too. I put some on a buffer wheel in the wood shop and did my finger nails on it. Really puts a shine on. Hhhmmm my lower front teeth could use a polish....Naw..might get some buff wheel caught in there...would make a good video...just thinkin.

Suz

The "treated"brass looks sorta Pale to me. I just use some dilute vinegar with a drop of washing up liquid in an ultrasonic cleaner. Comes out as new.

It doesn't look pale when tumbled in a Lyman tumbler using walnut or corncob media, and has looked like new for me for over 20 years of using the Lyman tumbler..................... !!
