The Democrat-controlled Congress and the White House are pulling out all the stops to offset the oncoming tidal wave that is threatening to throw them out of power this November.

With their polls sagging badly, the liberal Democrats rammed through a Puerto Rican statehood resolution yesterday which many consider the first step towards making Puerto Rico the 51st state -- a move that would give liberal progressives in the Congress six more Representatives and two new Senators.

Making Puerto Rico a state would bring another gun control bastion into our nation and bring almost ten anti-gun congressmen and senators into the Congress.

This is disgraceful! With her party's polls plummeting, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is trying to get as many additional progressives into Congress as possible so that she can continue advancing her liberal, anti-American agenda.

Regarding the statehood resolution, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) says it "is the Puerto Rico statehood bill which is being pushed by the new progressive party in Puerto Rico trying to create a federally [sanctioned] vote that they say is nonbinding but would give them the legitimacy to then come back and try to seat people in the United States Congress."

I used to travel to PR a lot in the mid-90s for business. The people there don't want to become a state because that would mean that they'd have to pay Federal taxes, etc. As it stands now they get Federal aid (about 50% of them got Federal aid when I was going down there) without having to contribute anything.

I met some really good folks while working down there but personally I think we should give the their independence.

Its all over talk radio and mirrors 'ol Pumpkinslinger's comment. They (people of PR) dont want to become a state.

PR has voted this down 3 times in the past !!!
This so called non-binding act will lead to a process that forces the enactment of statehood simply by changing the wording and making it a tiered process.

All the shenanigans going on in DC make me shake my head is disgust!

If PR becomes a state, there will still only be 50 stars on the flag. Texas just won't be one of them.

I read the bill that was passed. It "allows" PR to have a vote IF they want to. The vote is in two parts. The first part is choosing between maintaining their current status or doing something different. If they choose doing something different then they have another vote with 4 choices: statehood, independence, some different relationship with the US or keeping what they have now! Gotta wonder how these politicians think...

PR as State #51.... Another legacy marker for the Regime de' Dumb-dum's.

Since when has this stopped the Obama grab-all machine from doing anything? They ignore issues at home, a full on border war, flat out ignore the People and simply do whatever their agenda moves them to do. Obama and his Regime are fully out of control and are here to leave a legacy of destruction and mayhem.

Pretty sad how twisted this all has become. There is a full on border war going on right now in Az yet, the Golden Child keeps on ignoring his People getting murdered and shot up.

Don't even freakin' get me started on that drooling-prune Pelosi.
