That's what I do with my Hawkin. By the end of a good season of tromping through the woods the paint is usually worn off.

I put a silver nickle front blade on my Marlin 1894 Cowboy and it shows up OK. I agree that the Hi-Viz would look out of place on a traditional style smokepole. I'm just hoping it can help me with the handguns!
