|
Looking for a good load for my 300 winchester mag. I have a Remington 700 having trouble finding a load that will shoot under 2 inches at 100 yards. I like the 165g interbond or 180g interbond.

I own a Bowning A-bolt with 26" barrel. My load is win. brass; wlrm primer; 165 horn. IB; 77.8gr. reloder 22; oal of 3.380"; 3244 fps; 1/2" group. This may not work in your remington but mine loves it. I find the IB bullets need to be very close to the rifling to be accurate. Best loads are touching the rifling. You have to be real careful of pressure with that. Be careful.

Gamerabbit,
Welcome, come sit a spell.
As you are new to the board, I will ask, just to make sure you are aware, have you checked the Reloading Database? It is located in the menu on the upper left corner of your screen. There are quite a few loads shown for the 165 bullets in general and a couple for the 165 Hornady.
Just to make sure you are also aware, acording to the Hornady folks the 165 Interbond Hornady is the hunting version of the wonderful 168 Hornady HPBT Match bullet. It has the same external deminsions and the difference in the weight is the extra copper which weighs less than the lead in the match bullet. So while looking at loads, do not forget to look at the 168 match bullet data.
I use the 168 bullet in my 300 WSM guns with VN-560 myself and have found it to be an excellent powder in the 300.
Best,
Ed

I am not one to make blind statements but here I go. 75-76 gr RL22 or H4831 is the "magic" load for most 180 grain bullets. We use them with the accubonds and they work really well.
Keep in mind the interbonds are generally a hard bullet to get to shoot well. If you're stuck on Hornady try the Interlock. We have shot tons of game with the 180 boat tail IL.
