I shoot revolvers and autos. I've found that, when not using the sights, I do pretty well with revolvers but shoot low with most autos. I'm assuming its the grip angles. At 5 yards with a Browning HP or Taurus PT-140 I can be as much as a foot low. I have to see the front sight a little to be effective.

You are correct about the grip angle!!!
Your stance and grip on the gun can also cause an issue.
If you have a gun that won’t point, you can train yourself to point it where it needs to be.
I do however caution anyone that carries concealed to be changing your natural pointing abilities with a gun other than the one you carry.
Chances are you’ll revert back under stress !!!

Wow Chambered...I'm in trouble then because I shift from my Kimber UCC II to my Firestar M43 to my S&W Mod 19 seasonally...Or when the mood strikes me...Worse then that...I carry them all in a different manor. The Kimber is carried on my hip at 3:00 OC or 4:00 IWB. Fire star the same. Combat magnum, appendix carry IWB or OC at 3:00.
Missouri requires that you deminstrate profiency with both Semi-auto and revolver...

Hey hoffy...Ever notice that a lot of handguns (those that seem to have a natural pointability) are also the same ones that point in the same direction as your pointing (index) finger? In that I have never missed when pointing something out with my index finger.

I wouldn’t say that !!! You’re obviously comfortable with your abilities and know what you can and can’t do with the days gun of choice.

I'm not an 'intuitive' or point shooter as defined in most circles. And I sure aint no 'competetive' shooter. I shoot defensive with sidearms. (aint that they're intended pourpose? )
I present a HG the same way every time it clears leather, regardless of what type of sights it has- if any (blade/ramp, groove/ramp, none or 'trench' etc.).
It keeps my follow up shots tighter/more consistent. Reason? A slightly slower couple of hits center mass is better than faster misses.
I shoot faster at close ranges and slower and longer ranges because of the deviation each range/target will accept.
A miss is unacceptable, as well as dangerous to others.
If a threat is too close for 'presented sighted fire' then it get's 'rocked' or press-fired (revolver only).
P/s- I paint my sights too. Nail polish is bomb-proof. Lightly coat the ramp in white then follow with a contrast color if you choose, after the white dries.

Yup, I sure have Bushy. My .45 is the best in that aspect but if I went by my index finger and how it points I'd be pointing around corners. My Glock isn't too bad at point and shoot but I'm not as fast with it. I'm as accurate with it as I am with my .45 though. Maybe it's the light meight of the Glock.
BTW Bushy, I'm just jerkin yer chain. You seem to be a fun one to do that to.

I got a cheap pellet gun with sights that are (in my opinion) worse then the GI sights due to the molding not lining up right. However I still can hit a mouse at about 12 feet with it.
Practice makes perfect, so does knowing your firearm. No amount of fancy sights will change the fact that you don't know the gun and its sights.
Personally I'd stick with the GI sights, more simple and time tested, and you don't need much more to stop a BG.

Why didn't I say that.....
Dot 'em with some white-out and see if ya likes it then if you do, make it permanent with fingernail polish.
