Oh yea !!! Them oldies are known to bite ya !!! Can you say that hurts !!!
The STI Trojan has an undercut trigger guard and a high ride beaver tail grip safety on the that lets you get a very high grip. Because of this I have to pay particular attention when shooting old school 1911’s.

Well I got a call tonight and it seems I will have a Colt 1911 Offices Model. It will be partial payment for some work. It is about 25 years old and been fired twice.
I am going to have to build a kitchen for my uncle but it won't be to tough. Now I have to get it measured up, design it, and get my ars busy.
I need to get it done before duck season, I will have to sacrifice some of the early goose season.
It should only be 25 running feet or so. It takes a little extra time just doing it in my garage but it will be worth it.
I still want a GI model with a 5 inch barrel.

Its part of the old firearms, they all more or less bite, its not till more recently where people have developed methods so it doesn't bite.
The M1 rifle, the 1911, my FN49 if you don't watch it, they all bite, then guns became simple with areas to prevent the bite.

Your Officer's model should have the beaver tail that my full sized Colt has unless someone has changed it. Either way it won't hammer bite you unless you hold it two handed in the wrong manor. Just remember to keep both thumbs, left thumb under the right thumb, on the slide stop (left) side...Your left hand filling in the space that your right hand leaves open, again, on the left side.

Bingo! Good stuff as usual FN.

My take on fixed sights...................
I’ve watched guys come into the range that shoot a box of shells a year if that, with a new gun, put a target up at 21ft, empty a mag full of ammo, bring the target back only to find everything low left and most of the time not even in the silhouette portion of the target.
First thing out of their mouths, “This thing shoots low I gotta get some adjustable sights”
I have seen one fixed sighted gun that did not hit where I was aiming it at 21ft!!!
Lack of shooting, a good grip, and proper trigger control has lead to more guns getting their fixed sights replaced on them than you can shake a stick at.
The ones that get me the most are the ones that stand there cussing and vowing to never buy another gun from that maker because they can’t even get the sights close to where they should be.
I have offered my assistance on a number of occasions to these people only to be told I don’t know what I’m talking about, or if they let me shoot the gun that I’ve for some reason held POA so that it would hit the X-ring.
I do sometimes wonder why I offer any help to begin with !!!

A common theme underlying this latest turn in this ever evolving thread... know your weapon and practice with it!
+1 on what Chambered said about people not being able to hit where the gun really shoots and blaming fixed sights! I have seen many a shooter comes to the range and shoot a pattern rather than a group and is blaming he ammo or the gun. I have not found too many guns that cannot hold the 10 ring of a B-27 at 7 or even 15 yards if you have a clue how to use it.
I will casually ask the frustrated shooters if I can shoot their gun ... print a ragged hole in the X- ring and hand it back to them and offer to show them some techniques to do that.
I heard tell of a Bullseye clinic where the instructor asked each of the shooters to load five rounds into their magazines and set the weapon and the magazine on the table at the firing line. He then went from point to point picking up everyones different guns and shot clean scores at 25 yard timed fire targets..... turned to the class and said "There will be no excuses about the weapon or the ammo now."

Thanks Bushy good advice. I was in a gun shop tonight with my wife and I think I got her hooked! She saw a a Lady Colt and fell in love with it. I must say it was gorgeous, but a little pricey. I had seen pictures before but never the actual gun. I was told there were only 500 made, I haven't researched it yet to see if that is true or not.

Yea the first problem was it is in North Dakota and I don't have a permit to purchase there. The second is they want $1500 for it, I don't know how much it is worth. But I am sure mama would love it, it's the first pistol I have ever seen her drool over.
