When we need things other than my .22 shells we wait and go to Jones Fort in Redding. It's a 2-3 hour drive but worth it. It's also the only place i will get my pepper spry.

I agree sometime cheaper is just cheap. With very few exceptions I look at quality before price. Had a nice knife once and after gutting some oranges for got to clean it. About 6 months later when I got back to it, cleaned it up and it's still working. The other girl who did the same thing couldn't even get her's open for all the rust.

I do both small mom and pop's and box store. Some stuff you can't find in our area without the box store. But we still use the butcher for a lot of our meat, the veggie stand 30 minutes away, my friend yarn store for crafts, and several other little stores. I don't even like buying my greeting cards in box stores.

Forgot something I was going to say. I love being in a country that hasn't already started putting out Christmas.

A shooting buddy of mine called today who is aware of the WM ammo policies.

He checked at Fleet Farm today, and found the same 16ga shells that were $11.00 at Wal Mart with the price of $7.00 a box.

I guess that I know where I'm shopping for ammo at from now on. Very Happy Very Happy

Eh, NAFTA the work of the devil, why exactly? Sure some jobs went to Mexico from both Canada and the USA. But the over all benefits are better then the down fall.

I can order parts from the USA instead of another source with a simple phone call and have them next day tax free while I was working, just as I could ship stuff to the US without any real hassle to both me and my customer next day as well.

Repeal NAFTA and instead of buying US, it would be the same hassle as if I went for a Source in Europe or Asia for the same parts from another manufacturer. And its not just a Canadian perspective its the same for American companies, if NAFTA is gone, their reasons to order from Canada will be less then they are today.

Mexico used to be the stop gap before everyone went to China for cheap goods, and goods that the factories worried too much in Canada and the USA about environmental regulations, such as waste products produced in the manufacture.

But that 45$ product from Mexico instead of the 60$ American/Canadian product was not good enough for the end user, so the companies went to China and sell the same thing with a less quality construction for 15$ now. But people are happy they can buy 4 of them for the cost of one of them 25 years ago, so they go and shop at Walmart (or any other store importing this junk from China) and feel good they filled a shopping cart of garbage.

People should quit blaming the politicians for giving the people what they wanted, instead they should blame themselves for getting what they were b***hing about for years, cheaper goods to make their cost of living smaller.

Its the Consumer not the companies, nor the governments fault that we are in this mess of cheap mass produced garbage.

Dimitri

You guys must live under a rock or not pay attention at all to what is going on around you.

Wally World got their head handed to them in the USSRC to the tune of several million dollars, in fines, for their ammo sales policies and then again for firearms sales policies. If they did anything wrong at all, as a result, it was adopting a nationwide policy in response.

W W as a company, is a whole different matter. If you want cheap at the expense of your neighborhood then frankly, I feel very sorry for you. Wal-Mart financial policies are totally different from their gun or ammo sales policies. The truth is, Wal-Mart is about Wal-Mart and nothing or no one else. They will cut your throat for a penny!

Let us not get confused with subjects. Wal-Mart is a retail giant that is a real user and a corupting influence on your local government. WW is listed with just about every state where they operate as a serious violator of some sort, environmental, labor, taxes, etc., etc.

Do your local community a favor and buy from the guy you go to church with, or the parents of the kids your kids play with. They have a stake in the community and Wal-Mart is not just past caring, they never gave a damn about you to start with. You act like your best girl just told you to hit the road, Jack. She ain't your girl to start with. She is a whore that works the streets for the Waltons.
Best,
Ed

In Colville Wa. there's a Wallyworld on the edge of town.

There's also a small, REAL sporting goods store in town, Clark's All-sports, right on good ol' Main St.

Save a buck and get Chinko Crap at Wallyworld, or, get the same or better goods at practically the same price, and GOOD SERVICE, at the local shop that's been there for eons.

Yeh, times are tough- for everyone except WW, and if I'm shopping I'm helping out the small box store.
They are in hard times too, and, have been through WAY more hard times than WW ever will. They've earned the right to stay in business and have earned the right to keep mine.

The local shop's deserve our business.
WW deserves a rusty shovel to the throat.

What time is it?

Hear Hear!!

Mass merchant is preying on the locals -
they never give a damn about the shoppers regardless of what their advertising say.
Their interest is as Swampy said is to ww and ww alone.

In this Land Of Oz, mass merchants are gaining market shares.
You can see a lot of local shops closed down,
where you used to walk into a hardware shop and chat with the proprietor about for instance, the merit of different timber screws,
now all you get is prepackaged cheaply made hardware on sterile shopping alleys.

Truly we have done this to ourself by not supporting our locals..

Here in the middle of BFE there is only one place within a 60 mile radius that sell 45-70 shells, that is Wal Mart.
There is one mom and pop store that sells reloading components they are geared toward shotgun reloading and don't carry much for rifle, occasionally I will find a box of bullets. That is about 45 miles.
One gun shop close (10 miles) where I have bought 4 or 5 (my son and myself) guns this year, no reloading components and ammo is very high.

60 miles for the type of components I use, and that is one of the big boys. So I am suposed to go where?
We have 1 grocery store, 1 Butcher shop, 1 Hardware store, 1 big chain gas station, 1 Municipal Liquor Store, and a Vet's club (VFW and American Legion combine).
I have repeatedly bought outdated food in the grocery store, hell there are times you can smell something rotten in the store.
I don't use the butcher shop much because my wife works in a packing plant.
The hardware store has very little and you have to listen to the owner piss and moan when you go in there.
So are you guys telling me you don't shop at any of the big boxes???? No Cabella's, Bass Pro, Homedepot, Target, Macey's, or any chain store that has numerous stores?
There is no way to survive up here without using some kind of chain store. I am talking about towns that are 700 people or less scattered around every 10-15 miles. The next town east has 60 people. Hell there is one stop light within about 45 miles. We still haven't figured out why they put that in.
Don't get me wrong I'd like to support mom and pop but there aren't any worth supporting here and I have to live within my means. I like buying quality.

Ain't that the truth mate. We are our own worst enemies sometimes.

The big multi-nationals do anything and everything they can to put the "little guy" out of business.

I support the "little guy" whenever I can in preference to the big M-N's.
