As a history buff it has struck me what a momentous event we recognize today. Can you imagine the history of the world over the last 100 years or so if there was no independent United States of America? As we enjoy our picnics and fireworks today lets take the time to remember not only those fifty six men who risked everything by signing the Declaration of Independence but also all of those every day citizens who drove and supported their actions.
Happy Fourth of July everybody!

There is a lot of fireworks going off down at the lake today. I Fired off some 45-70 roman candles into the target behind the house, I think I won the noise competition for the day phase.

Spent the day with new friends from 5 countries yesterday. Had good BBQ, and small fireworks, was more about being with friends than a big party.
P.S. Happy Canada Day a little late.

It was about as beautiful weather as you could ask for this weekend. It was so nice that my wife wanted to go fishing. Judging by the color of my legs I'm thinking we spent a little to much time out there!!!!!! OUCH! I've got about 10 layers of Noxzema on and I still glow in the dark.

Thanks for the "well" wishes D.
Big Texas BBQ with the family.
We had a great time, but I ate too much.
No fireworks though. It was 105 degrees, and with no appreciable rainfall for about 19 months, and a 20 MPH hot wind blowing across South Texas from the Chihuahua Desert in Mexico….not a good scenario. The dry grass that I have is already slim pickings for those old hides (cattle).

Cary I would send you the rain from here every day for the last 3 weeks.

D, I wish I could figure out how to get all of that extra water down here. We could sure use it.
I have irrigation wells on the ranch, but buying hay is cheaper than irrigating grazing land. No matter what the price in the store is, the rancher doesn't get much for his calf crop.
