My son is looking at buying a press set up, and the new Hornady lock-and-load Classic kit caught his attention. I haven't seen one and don't know any one that has one. Any one got any opinions about them? I have always used RCBS, Herters, and Pacific equipment. I also see in the new Midway catalog that Hornady has redemption program for purchasing their loading equipment. Any thoughts are welcome. Idea Idea

I have no Hornady presses, but I have heard nothing but praise for the LNL...

My son is trying to get as much of his "toys" purchased while he is single and living at home since he doesn't have any bills to pay. I just don't want to see him buy some fancy new garbage. I just couldn't give advice on something I haven't even seen. Hopefully the local shop will get one in so we can take a look.

I have a 007 and have nothing but good things to say about it. I have had it for 20 plus years.
No idea what the LNL are like but like Bushy says I have only heard good reports and lets face it there would be heaps of negative stuff on the net if they were bad!

Don't forget Hornady has a mail-in for free bullets when you buy their products.
The L-N-L Classic kit gets you 500 & the press on its own 100.

Hornady "Get Loaded" offer

PS Make sure to get plenty of L-N-L bushes, as supply has been erratic with all the demand created by the new version of the AP press.

That's a good incentive to buy Hornady products.

I've been buying Hornady dies for a while and got the Hornady progressive press a while back. I like the Lock-N-Load feature and the quality of the press in general. I'd think that the single stage press would be just as good. I also use an RCBS single stage that must be about 30 years old and have never had a problem with it (That I didn't cause!).

Thanks I haven't heard a negative comment about the Hornady press. I think it will be the one he buys when he gets one. His BFR is going to be coming soon so the old check book will take a big hit. Looks like he'll have to wait a couple pay checks.

You cant go wrong with Hornady. I used several type presses of friends, but own 3 hornady presses. Just purchased the LNL - great, recommend buying additional die bushings. great feature, and why I bought it, you set up your dies and when done, take out the bushings and store until you use them next time - no new setup. you can have all your calibers ready to go. check out midwayusa also for presses, parts and supplies - great service.

I feel bad that they play these games but don't go petting a spider or croc.
But I don't feel bad enough to boycott them. Sorry have one of Vince's beers on me, hell make it a couple.

Just to give a quick history lesson, Hornady bought Pacific specifically for the Tool&Die operation as they wanted to get into the die making business and the new dies parts such as the threaded spindle depriming rods and holders WILL fit into Pacific die sets! And they work great!!!! I even notified the C. Rep at Hornady they did in fact work she was very surprised and happy to learn that. If you look at the die box for your Pacific it may say something like Pacific a divisin of Hornady. They the new quick spindles, are like RCBS's method of a threaded rod but the threads are not as deep so they can be pushed in alot faster and set. I have an old like twenty years as well 007 press that is still going strong and in fact I just deprimed about forty .25-06'Rem cases that are almost twenty years old as well, last night as it is past 12am now. And once a die is set and locked it should never need to be reset unless you change a component like bullets or length of resizing or something in the case is different. The LNL feature just makes it faster to get the die into the press. If I were in the market for a new on I would REALLY look into the LNL. Hornady is not a seat of the pants company, and they do pay attention to customer satisfaction. IF you call in and get the AUDIX voice it is one of the best I have EVER heard and they get ALOT of positive compliments for it. Hope this helps ya'. If not well then hey that's ok too.

Your mad? Gun related products are generally "US Only" for any kind of offers if its anything more then a range bag or plastic case. Sad

No its your State Department that does that to us. We have very liberal laws on firearm, firearm parts and firearm accessories that can be imported and exported. Its your side of the boarder that doesn't realize a guy buying a rifle to go hunting, or ammunition is not the next dictator that will cause problems for the US down the road, which is what the ITAR is supposed to prevent. Wink
