I killed a rabbit with a knife once. Killed a rockchuck last week at ~515 with my .243 AI.

I stabbed a mad bull in the jaw with my Bowie knife once, and only got one broken bone.....but thats another story (goes in the "Stupid Stunts" forum).

For your on the wing shot w/ the revolver try loading shot in it I read about a guy shooting carpenter bees in his shed w/ #11 shot in his .44 mag I think. Never the less pretty cool.

I broke my past record in March of this year. I was prone, took 3 rds., 257 Weatherby, 100 gr. Nosler. On a Groundhog at 1111 yds. appox. I lazed the bush the groundhog came from into a field. It will be Summer until I'll get another chance at that distance.

200 yrd shot with a Taurus 6" revolver in .44 magnum and hit a 12" steel disc target hanging from chains at the range over open sights shooting 240gr JSP Winchester factory shells.
First shot fell well short....gave it about a 3 ft holdover and pretty soon...."PING"

Then theres the prairies where I sometimes shoot....

Hey Rick....you should have a go at shooting IHMSA (Handgun Silhouette). I used to shoot it regularly...Chickens at 50yds, Javelina at 100yds, Turkeys at 150yds and Big Horn Ram at 200yds.

Using my 10" BBL TC Contender in 30.30 Win, with open sights, I used to be able to shoot 5" groups at 200yds. I had to give it up when I couldn't see the sights properly...bloody eyes.

The handguns of choice back then were TC Contenders, XP100, a smattering of S&W Mod 29 in .44 Mag and plenty of Dan Wessons in .44 Mag.

Now my longest shot, which is also my longest first shot kill, is at 630 yards on a rockchuck with my .243 AI.

It's up to 786 on a rockchuck , 2 shots. .243 AI, 87 Vmax.
