I can't say specifically about the Baby Eagle but I was impressed by the Desert Eagle when I got a chance to shoot it. I own a BFR and will say without hesitation that Magnum Research's quality in outstanding. I will never sell of my BFR and I am thinking about buying a Desert Eagle or Baby Eagle. Good luck with yous

Well...

I have the gun...BUT now I gotta learn how to USE the gun...

What I've learned so far is that I'm NOT very good with a handgun...

SO...What to do now?? (It pains me to ask for help)...

Any online resources for beginning handgun shooters? (I've searched, and usually find the "load the ammo into the magazine" type sites)...

Gun Specific...

Once I get to the last 1-2 rounds in a magazine, the empty brass is usually deformed, and does not eject properly. I've even had empty brass hit me just above the right eye. These empties have a "cut" across the mouth. Lemme see if I can get some photos...

Those cases have me buffaloed! I've seen some with dents, etc from ejection but nothing like that before.

I believe the cases are being ejected with so much force they are strikeing the slide on the way out. The reason is, there is less "head pressure" with fewer cases in the gun to put pressure on the last few cases and inturn the slide/bolt.
"head pressure" is the upward pressure excerted on the cases, from the magazine spring on the cartridges transfered to the slide/bolt. So slide/bolt speed increases with fewer cartridges in the magazine.

Handgun skills = pratctice practice practice. Ya wanna target shoot or get tactial skills? Either or, practice. The gun's a tool, make it work for you.

What ammo ya using? The damage looks pretty consistent. I'd try and match up the case mouth to something on the gun that it might be whacking on/causing it.

Looks like a failure to eject all the way and it's getting pinched somehow.
Check yer spring, ejector, extractor....etc.

Confusious say: complex problem usually due to simplest and most logical reason....or sumpin like that. Confused

Compact 40 cals are notorious for damaging cases on their way out of the gun!!!
Because of the high operating pressures in 40cals the slide needs to retain as much metal as possible for strength. On the compacts and micro compacts the ejection port is made only big enough to reliably eject the case and may not actually clear it all together. The case is hitting the slide as it is coming out, usually there is also a dent about a third way up from the base and the firing pin swipes the primer.

With yours only doing it on the last few rounds, it's likely that the heat from the previous rounds are generating a little more pressure.

The hotter the loads the more damage you’ll see on the case.

I don’t know of any how to sites but I’ll offer some advise.

The most important aspect of pistol shooting is trigger control !!!
You must learn to manipulate the trigger consistently pulling it back and when it breaks you must immediately reset it. Do not pull and hold it when it breaks. It must be one fluid motion of depressing and resetting.
A revolver full of snap caps works great as a training aid for this. Focus on the front sight and practice pulling the trigger without moving the front sight. Start slow and don’t worry about speed....it’ll come with time naturally.

The next thing is a consistent grip!!!

I think this is a "limp wrist" problem.

Whenever the gun goes down to the last few pellets, the weight of the gun is much reduced.
Thus the innertia is much less and unless the gun is held "in place" long enough for the slide to rack fully,
the recoil moves the frame together with the slide.
Thus the ejection problem - viz. the slide do not goes back far enough to eject the empties reliably and the case got caught on the ejection port.

(if the case still got ejected off the gun, it may be because of the new load is pushing it upwards enough to clear the gun)

Try a piece of weight or a few lead bullets in a tube (at least 1000 grains weight total) attached or taped onto the gun while you shoot and see if the problem disappear.

I took the gun back to the shop I purchased it from on 12-28. Their Gunsmith couldn't find anything wrong with it, nor could he duplicate this condition. I'm gonna contact MRI myself (he claims to have tried ,ONCE).

I picked it up today and put 45 rounds through it when I got it home (I was short on time and ammo). Of the 45 rounds fired, I located (43) empty casings (we still have snow on the ground), and (6) of the (43) showed some abnormalities. Nothing as severe as the previous photos I posted, but just enough that I notice that something is different.

I'm gonna put another coupla hundred rounds through it and see it things smooth out...
