Hey Guys,

OK so I went and bought a not top of the line scope, when your on SSDI you just cannot get what you really want, so please do not bust my chops over a low end scope. Embarassed

So far it is working well, with one exception.

One of my favorite hunting sites faces due east and when the sun is coming up I have a great deal of difficulty finding the target (animal), because of what I am going to call reflection or shine.

I do a lot of SRL camera work and there are lens filters available to help reduce or eliminate this condition, is there anyone who sells accessory filters for rifle scopes? Confused

I haven't seen any polarized filters for scopes but I bet someone makes one. Another idea would be a sun screen that screws on to the front of the scope. Is yours threaded?

another option to a filter or sunshade is an a.r.d. anti reflective device they aren't available for everything but when they are it doesn't add as much weight or length to your scope.

I was thinking more about one of these in the link below but what D suggested might work. Those anti-reflection devices are intended to prevent reflections off the objective lens from being seen by an enemy but the write up says they'll cut glare too. Guess I'll have to try one!

Lester....at a pinch mate, if it really becomes a problem, you could always find a way of attaching a filter from a 35mm SLR camera. Be fairly easy to do considering the size of a camera filter.

By an large...the best option is to maybe re-site your blind mate, or have a couple for different times of the day and different winds. No, not the curry or chilli type of wind...the blowing wind.

Cheers, Vince

Hey Guys, Smile

Thanks for the suggestions.

I am already using a 6 inch sunshade, the blind is 12 feet above the ground and is 8 foot X 8 foot, the structure holding the blind up are 6" x 6" posts, cemented into the ground, just so you know I can't move it.

I like Dimitri's suggestion and will be getting one, it will be fall before I can report on it, but the company's website answered a lot of questions.

Hey pumpkin imagine 50 miniture sunshades stacked like firewood the a.r.d.'s act like this kinda like a polarization the only draw back is they cut about 15% of the light coming in also due to the surface area covered by the mesh. If the magnification is at a high ratio to the objective size or the glass isn't top notch it will suffer in the brightness catagory so you have to decide which one is more important or which one is most likely to occur. if you don't have to look in a shadowed area you'll probably be o.k.
