Locally Handgun ammo has bin almost extinct. We usually shoot Winchester white box .45's. My buddy went to the Basspro yesterday and they were stocking the shelves while he was there he bought 2000 rounds . Were getting the components to begin reloading .45's. It's pretty creepy to see empty ammo shelves at stores

shrpshtrjoe,
Same story at the gun shops I visit. They have a ton of stuff on backorder and it is slowly coming in. It sells as fast as they stock the shelves. I got the last bottle of Unique, IMR4895 and IMR3031 they had. They have lots of shotgun ammo and components. Primers are gone. All the best...

Hey Joe,
Guys buying 2000 rounds at a time ARE the reason the shelves are empty...

A buddy visited a local gun shop Saturday and said they were pretty well stocked but the prices were up. Folks buying everything up will cause that but I can't say that it isn't a good idea, given the current administration.

I had a guy sign up for my Pistol League today, and he was so hard up to find 9mm loads, he had to buy three boxes of personal protection premium bullets.
I felt sorry for the poor guy, but that is how bad it has gotten around these parts.
Lucky for me, I have a whole reloading room full of components for everything that I shoot.
I think that things will get better towards summer.

2000 rounds may sound like a lot!!! But it really isn’t!!!
I’ve been known to shoot 12,000+ rounds a year and I know guys who shoot way more than I.
I usually buy 5,000 bullets and primers at a time and powder in 8lb bottles.
You get price breaks buying larger quantities !!!

I have about a 1000 rounds for all my firearms, and lots of empty brass to reload, IF I EVER GET THE D__N RELOADING BENCH SET UP!!!
Not screaming at you guys, just at myself.
Ya might think I am procrastinating because I am a little worried about reloading, and all the darn instruction on setting up the presses and dies, it is a little intimidating.
The ammo is as follows, and I did not get it all at once just whever I happen to see what I need I buy a box or two.
22 Sav (5000 rounds)
357 Mag
40 S&W
38 Special
9MM
270 Sav.
7MM Mag Rem
12 Ga. (500 rounds of 000, and 600 rounds of #4)
I am not sure how much is enough, but I am glad I not looking for any right now. And I have enough reloading material to go at least another 1000 rounds.

I picked up 1000 rds of .45 auto and 500 rds. of .40 s&w for my Dad yesterday. Very hard to find. With his Small Arms Training Classes He goes through a lot. I found these at Gander Mt. of all places. Remington UMC. 250 ct. $119.99. I bought one for myself as well. His reg. suppliers are having a hard time keeping him supplied. Pistols are very hard to get right now too. I just bought a new Sig. 232 SL, in .380... and I can't find any ammo for that. Hope it gets better, Soon!

Just picked up 1500 130gr Lead 45ACPs that a friend of mine made, for $90.00.
I now have around 10,000 .45 bullets in stock, and I'm set on large pistol primers for the year also.
I was able to get 1000 small pistol primers and 500 lead 125gr 9mm bullets at my Gun Shop today also.
Now I'm set on 9mm for the year.
I figure that to reload 9mm, I'm only paying $4.50 per box, and with my friends .45ACP lead bullets, I'm paying the same as I am for the 9mm.
I will now go hunting for some .40 bullets that I will be needing by late summer.
