I received this in an email today from a friend over in the USA.

I reiterate what I have said previously:

The ANTIs have joined forces worldwide. They are a strong organisation to be reckoned with now.

The proposals below are pretty much exactly what they did to us here in Australia.

If firearms owners sit back and do nothing, then you WILL loose everything. Firearms owners need to join forces in order to defeat the proposals of the ANTIs and their lap dogs in Government.

Cheers, Vince

Gun Law Update by Alan Korwin wrote:

Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list.

Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list, even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress). It serves as a framework for the new list the Brady's plan to introduce shortly.

I have an outline of the Brady's current plans and targets of opportunity, It's horrific. They're going after the courts, regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people.

They've made little mention of criminals.

Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states' rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment.

The Democrats current gun-ban-list proposal (final list will be worse):

Rifles (or copies or duplicates):

M1 Carbine, Sturm Ruger Mini-14, AR-15, Bushmaster XM15, Armalite M15,

AR-10, Thompson 1927, Thompson M1; AK, AKM, AKS, AK-47, AK-74, ARM,

MAK90, NHM 90, NHM 91, SA 85, SA 93, VEPR; Olympic Arms PCR; AR70, Calico Liberty, Dragunov SVD Sniper Rifle or Dragunov SVU, Fabrique National FN/FAL, FN/LAR, or FNC, Hi-Point Carbine, HK-91, HK-93, HK-94, HK-PSG-1, Thompson 1927 Commando, Kel-Tec Sub Rifle; Saiga, SAR-8, SAR-4800, SKS with detachable magazine, SLG 95, SLR 95 or 96, Steyr AU, Tavor, Uzi, Galil and Uzi Sporter, Galil Sporter, or Galil Sniper Rifle Galatz).

Pistols (or copies or duplicates):

Calico M-110, MAC-10, MAC-11, or MPA3, Olympic Arms OA, TEC-9, TEC-DC9, TEC-22 Scorpion, or AB-10, Uzi.

Shotguns (or copies or duplicates):

Armscor 30 BG, SPAS 12 or LAW 12, Striker 12, Streetsweeper.

Catch-all category (for anything missed or new designs):

A semiautomatic rifle that accepts a detachable magazine and has:
(i) a folding or telescoping stock,
(ii) a threaded barrel,
(iii) a pistol grip (which includes ANYTHING that can serve as a grip, see below),
(iv) a forward grip; or a barrel shroud.

Any semiautomatic rifle with a fixed magazine that can accept more than
10 rounds (except tubular magazine .22 rimfire rifles).

A semiautomatic pistol that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine, and has:
(i) a second pistol grip,
(ii) a threaded barrel,
(iii) a barrel shroud or
(iv) can accept a detachable magazine outside of the pistol grip, and
(v) a semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.

A semiautomatic shotgun with:
(i) a folding or telescoping stock,
(ii) a pistol grip (see definition below),
(iii) the ability to accept a detachable magazine or a fixed magazine capacity of more than 5 rounds, and
(iv) a shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

Frames or receivers for the above are included, along with conversion kits.

Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will:

Under the proposal, the U.S.. Attorney General can add any semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General".

Note that Obama's pick for this office (Eric Holder, confirmation hearing set for Jan. 15) wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home.

In making this determination, the bill says, "there shall be a rebuttable
presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military
or any federal law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a firearm shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event."

In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.

The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn't have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose -- is that devious or what? And of course, "sporting purpose" is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever, invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent.

Respectfully submitted, Alan Korwin, Author Gun Laws of America

If law makers spent half as much time enforcing the law and getting thugs and such off the street, as they did proposing all these stupid bans and restrictions, there wouldn't be any crime.

They also wouldn't be able to justify their fancy, worthless diplomas and would be out of a job. The only reason they do this is due to liberal lobbyist pressure from the same soft-headed, criminal hugging, bleeding hearts that paid these offiicals way's into these offices.

Once again, when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. These laws force citizens to arm themselves with sticks and rocks while crooks have guns obtained illegally.

Gun control has never, EVER worked in reducing crime one little bit in any country. In fact, the more stringent the gun laws, the higher the murder rate per capita.

It's truly pathetic what has happend to our world in the past half-century.

The thing that we have that you Aussies don't Vince is the Constitution and the Second Amendment.
The NRA doesn't hurt either.
So far, I haven't received any information on this from the NRA, and I think that if it was as dire as looks the NRA would be all over it.

For the next two years, the "sky is falling" alerts are going to be everywhere.

For me to keep from going Woody Allen every day, I will depend on the NRA, to inform me when to act, and start writing letters.

EB, yeah we have those things for now, but they are working faster than the Energizer Bunny to amend them. Censored

Here's what the NRA has posted:

Quote::
Big Brother's New Target: Tracking Firearms

Friday, January 23, 2009

U.S. Representative Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) recently sponsored H.R. 45, also known as "Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act." The bill is, at its core and as its name implies, a licensing and registration scheme.

The measure calls for all handgun owners to submit to the federal government an application that shall include, among many other things: a photo; an address; a thumbprint; a completed, written firearm safety test; private mental health records; and a fee. And those are only some of the requirements to be licensed!

The bill would further require the attorney general to establish a database of every handgun sale, transfer, and owner's address in America. Moreover, the bill would make it illegal to own or possess a "qualifying firearm" -- defined as "any handgun; or any semiautomatic firearm that can accept any detachable ammunition feeding deviceā€¦" [emphasis added] without one of the proposed licenses.

Additionally, the bill would make it illegal to transfer ownership of a "qualifying firearm" to anyone who is not a licensed gun dealer or collector (with very few exceptions), and would require "qualifying firearm" owners to report all transfers to the attorney generals database. It would also be illegal for a licensed gun owner to fail to record a gun loss or theft within 72 hours, or fail to report a change of address within 60 days. Further, if a minor obtains a firearm and injures someone with it, the owner of the firearm may face a multiple-year jail sentence.

H.R. 45 is essentially a reintroduction of H.R. 2666, which Rush introduced in 2007. H.R. 2666 contained much of the same language as H.R. 45, and was co-sponsored by several well-known anti-gun legislators--including Barack Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel. H.R. 45 currently has no co-sponsors.

Rest assured that NRA-ILA will continue to monitor this bill closely, and will keep you informed of any developments if they materialize.

So they are working on it, but as I have said and will continue to say; the NRA needs our help. Write, call, email your federal representatives to express you outrage about this bill and any other attempt to amend the 2nd amendment.

I stole this from a guy at THR. Embarassed
Quote::
HR 45, Blair Holt Licensing and Record Act of 2009

Here they come, ready or not. Feel the water getting warmer?

Are you ready for the House Bill titled 'HR 45, Blair Holt Licensing and Record Act of 2009'. It will make it illegal to own a firearm unless it is registered with the database in Washington D.C. As a gun owner you will have to be finger printed, you will be required to provide your DL#, SS#, you must maintain a valid address at all times, submit to mental and physical health records being put on file, you will also be required to file any address changes and any ownership changes even if a private sale. Each update will cost $25 and if you fail to comply you will lose your right to own firearms. This bill and its language mirror almost completely one defeated last year in the House of Representatives by soon to be Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. Will we the citizenry be as lucky this time?

Pass this on to everyone who believes in strict Constitutionalism and remember that laws only apply to those who obey them. Criminals by definition and nature do not abide by laws. New laws and restrictions only apply to the law abiding citizen and are not written with the criminal in mind. With guns, it is not about having laws on the books to prosecute individuals, it is about taking guns away from the people so that no one has them in the first place. One last item to note, when assuming power and creating a fascist state, Hitler was a proponent of strong gun laws because a disarmed populace was much easier to control than an armed one. The kings of old also outlawed weapons of any kind in any region that they conquered to quell the ability of the citizens to up-rise against them.

The Founding Fathers of this nation understood all of the above and because of this they included the second amendment in the constitution. In fact, they knew that at some point in every society's life span that the need for the population to arise came about. To this end they made the right to keep and bear arms against a tyrannical state an absolute right that could not be revoked.
They did this because the first thing tyrants and despots do is to remove a population's right to defend themselves When this is done, the tyrants have no problem with the destruction of society as we know it.

Send this on to all true patriots! Protect your Second Amendment!

The following is a summary of the bill as provided by the Congressional Research Service. If you read the whole bill, you'll find it will effectively preclude the ownership of ANY firearms by law-abiding people unless licensed by the Attorney General. How long do you think THAT would take??

Congressional Research Service Summary
The following summary was written by the Congressional Research Service, a well-respected nonpartisan arm of the Library of Congress. GovTrack did not write and has no control over these summaries.
1/6/2009--Introduced.

Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 - Amends the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to prohibit a person from possessing a firearm unless that person has been issued a firearm license under this Act or a state system certified under this Act and such license has not been invalidated or revoked. Prescribes license application, issuance, and renewal requirements.

Prohibits transferring or receiving a qualifying firearm unless the recipient presents a valid firearms license, the license is verified, and the dealer records a tracking authorization number. Prescribes firearms transfer reporting and record keeping requirements. Directs the Attorney General to establish and maintain a federal record of sale system.

Prohibits: (1) transferring a firearm to any person other than a licensee, unless the transfer is processed through a licensed dealer in accordance with national instant criminal background check system requirements, with exceptions;

(2) a licensed manufacturer or dealer from failing to comply with reporting and record keeping requirements of this Act;

(3) failing to report the loss or theft of the firearm to the Attorney General within 72 hours;

(4) failing to report to the Attorney General an address change within 60 days; or

(5) keeping a loaded firearm, or an unloaded firearm and ammunition for the firearm, knowingly or recklessly disregarding the risk that a child is capable of gaining access, if a child uses the firearm and causes death or serious bodily injury.
Prescribes criminal penalties for violations of firearms provisions covered by this Act.

Directs the Attorney General to: (1) establish and maintain a firearm injury information clearinghouse; (2) conduct continuing studies and investigations of firearm-related deaths and injuries; and (3) collect and maintain current production and sales figures of each licensed manufacturer. Authorizes the Attorney General to certify state firearm licensing or record of sale systems.

Pleased be advised and pass this along: House Bill HR 45, Blair Holt Licensing and Record Act of 2009 will, in my opinion, be the first of 2 or 3 steps toward confiscation of privately owned firearms.

I have notified the NRA and am sending this to every pro-gun organization I know of. I strongly suggest you do the same. Also it is time we all contacted our representatives in congress and voice our position on this.

Thanks to NotSoFast on THR. Very Happy I hope he is not upset that I borrowed it, too lazy to write it myself. Sad

This is no joke, it is only beginning, there will be more and more.

OK---I've said it before but---All of us Conservatives blasted the liberals the past 8 years of having nothing good to say. We called them hand wringers, whiners, poor sports.

Guess what gang--WE have become the liberals.

I just don't have enough time in the day to go about my regular business with family, friends and everything else, to become a basket case for the looney right.

My friend's Dad sends me emails all day long hysterically shouting the same Armageddon is here stuff.
All he does is watch FOX New, and read his world is ending emails.
When I see his name on my inbox, I press delete.

I fight hard on Political issues, and have been involved in politics for 35 years.
I also choose the battles that I will fight, and have won most of them.

I have also learned that when a person screams that the "sky is falling" too many times, folks tend not to listen the that person, and he then becomes, a non- issue in the argument. Even when this same person comes up with something important that should be listened to, nobody pays attention because of all of the other foolishness that he has spouted in the past.

We really need a World is Ending Politics thread around here so the hand wringing can stay in one place where it can be avoided.

I'm starting to feel guilty because I go around smiling too much, and haven't had a crying jag in front of people yet. Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad

I even would like to live to old age.
BECAUSE I AM STILL HAVING FUN!!!!!

Interesting side note... An independent polling company reviewed the news coverage during the election and found that only ONE network covered the two candidates in a fair, even manner. Equal numbers of pro and con stories for both. That network was FOX. ALL of the other networks were overwhelmingly pro-Obama. Even the US population was polled and said that 55% of the media stories favored Obama, 25% favored McCain and the rest thought it was even.

The only network that I watch Mike, is Fox.
The problem is, a guy can get into a rut just like my Brother, who has it on 24-7.
This can cause serious mental problems, with Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity proclaiming that the USA is toast.
A good dose of Bill O'Reilly is good for a person, because he will take on the Republicans and Democrats.
O'Reilly isn't an ideologue like the others, which upsets my just to the right of Attila the Hun Brother, and some folks who dwell on the internet. Very Happy

What I'm trying to get at, is that some people aren't happy unless they are miserable, and President Obama's election, has brought these poor souls out of the woodwork.

Like I say, for better or worse, right or wrong, "I calls 'em as I sees 'em"

Bill O'Reilly's the best. Fare and concise, and yes when either side deserves it he let's them have it. They both (Dems, and the GOP) leave a lot to be desired.

Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity are a bit over the deep end, and Beck especially can be scary, Miz Dee Insane watches him but I usually leave the room. I don't think he'll last too long. Pray

EB as I've said before I know you know what your doing, and that you are well versed in politics and also know very well what is going on. I respect everything you say and and in the majority agree with you wholeheartedly. Bow

But, this is just like reloading a cartridge. Some folks know how, and other are just beginning. In this case some know what's going on and others who are new, and/or were not aware are becoming aware. I don't think these gun control issue are going away any time soon.

Posts like this and discussion/communication helps keep folks that are not as tuned in as you aware of what's going on. And, how they might respond; such as becoming NRA members, joining grassroots organizations or other organizations that support gun rights, and just writing or calling their representatives to speak their minds.

I am sure there are other places in the world were what folks thought were God given rights have, as a result of not having all of their kindred souls aware or involved, had those rights infringed upon or lost them altogether.

The sky is not falling, no matter what chicken little says, but I do not want to become a criminal in my own country, and therefore try to keep everyone aware.

A very happy fellow. Misc
