Hey Bushy.....Zeus is lookin' real good mate. His momma's looks are starting to show too, and she's a lovely looking horse as well.

Cheers, Vince

Yup...Yer right...And I could (or should) get away from horses and maybe live a bit longer (maybe). I have a riding partner and friend that is in his mid 90's and he still saddles up. I'm a high mountain trail horseman...

Enough...Back to the subject matter of this thread.

Bushmaster,
If my back wasn't broke in three places I would sign up in a heartbeat. I love to ride - I just never got enough of it when I was able to. I bet I could ride as long as we just walked - any more would probably put me back on the pain meds in short order. Youv'e got some nice country around you by the pictures. Are there any fish in that pond?

I am not from Kentucky, I just wanted to let everyone know that it is happening everwhere. We need to just get involved.

Louisville Grassroots Workshop Tremendous Success!
NRA Members Ready To Take Action This Election Season

This morning, 180 staunch, pro-gun patriots attended the NRA-ILA Grassroots Workshop, held in conjunction with NRA's Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Louisville, Ky. Though most attendees were home state Kentuckians, NRA members represented states from across the country. Diversity in geography notwithstanding, all were united in the singular mission of learning what more they could do in their local communities to elect pro-gun lawmakers to office this year—and they weren't disappointed!

Virtually all of NRA's national officers addressed the attendees, including: NRA EVP Wayne LaPierre; NRA President John Sigler; ILA Executive Director Chris Cox; First Vice President Ron Schmeits; and Second VP David Keene. One by one, our Association's leaders came to the podium and gave credit for NRA's successes to whom it rightly belongs—our members and grassroots activists—and noted the importance of their continued and increased activism in the following months leading up to Election Day. Also in attendance were more than a dozen of NRA-ILA's Election Volunteer Coordinators (EVCs)—the true tips of our grassroots arrow.

Grassroots staff provided attendees with an overview of the threats and opportunities we currently face in Congress, including efforts to reform BATFE, micro-stamping legislation, and a bill to end gun shows, as well as updates on the Heller Supreme Court case and efforts to allow Right-to-Carry in national parks. Once all were apprised of our legislative priorities, and provided with tips to effectively communicate their views to their lawmakers, discussion then turned to grassroots strategies for us to win at the ballot box this year.

In addition to stressing active participation in NRA-ILA's various grassroots programs, attendees were provided with training and materials on voter registration, early and absentee voting, volunteer recruitment, letters to the editor, yard sign and bumper sticker distribution, literature drops, and of course, integral Get Out The Vote and Election Day activities.

Tomorrow, ILA Grassroots will conduct the second annual "In Their Own Words" Special Session that will feature some of NRA-ILA's most renowned activists in a panel discussion that will include Q&A with their fellow NRA members and grassroots supporters. For additional information on the "In Their Own Words Special Session," click here.

Please keep an eye out for next week's Alert for additional information on NRA-ILA's grassroots activities in Louisville, including more in-depth reporting on the "In Their Own Words Session", NRA-ILA's "Celebration of American Values Forum", and other Annual Meeting news and activities.

Bushy,

Nice place to ride!

It's not as pretty down here. Lots of brush, low rolling hills, and no water to speak of (unless it's man-made).

Cary

Paul...That was taken in your neck of the woods. Three Sisters National Wilderness, Oregon. Spent 12 years riding up there on 6 day runs yearly. Pond? Fish? Glacier Pool Up by Broken Top and no fish as it completely freezes in the winter under 8 to 10 feet of snow. That's about 6,000 feet up.

Something else huh Cary...The openness is the beauty of your area...

Do I have stories about those "granola crunchers" and our horses...But not here...

Yer missin' out if you don't ride the Three Sisters. We encountered very few granola crunchers in August. Most of them avoided those armed and dangerous horsemen. Others were friendly and curious of us.

Bushy,
I almost bought 340 acres just a bit southwest of Three Sisters a few years back. It just wasn't quite big enough to qualify for the farm tax exemtion. I probably should have done it anyway - the values in that area have multiplied 10 fold.

The Revolution of 1776 started with only 10% of the population (referrance the gay movement). Remember the famous quote of Shakespare: First we kill all the lawyers!! (now I am not avocating we due all lawyers under, just the bad ones (read congress)!!). “The Constitution... is a mere thing of wax in the hands of the judiciary which they may twist and shape into any form they please.” —Thomas Jefferson

And Bruce, who I go hiking with here in the Mark Twain National Forest...He isn't the same as regular people, but he is a good friend and he is an honest lawyer...

I banned Mickey Dee's awhile back for supporting gay rights...nothing has changed....I eat in house or local dinners.
Banning Guns will solve nothing....except make it easier for the crooks to take over.
I was away on business a few years back and someone tried to break in on my wife. She had a tug of war on the door with whoever was outside. I keep guns all over the house for easy access when I am away. Somehow she managed to get the door closed. She pulled a 22 rifle from behind the sofa (only gun she knows how to use) and called me instead of 911. I was not around to take her call. Before she could call 911...the same person or persons tried knocking in the back door. 6 rounds from the 22 though the door made them head for high country. The police came about 15minutes later and saw no sign of anyone getting hit. They told her that if is she did not have the gun that things might have been different....and she should call them before calling me. I was home within hours. The thought of the “what if’s” kept gnawing at me for several weeks. I still to this day feel uncomfortable leaving her to make any trips. When I do leave…I tell no one other than Very close friends.
Since then, she still refuses to shoot any other gun (she hates guns but supports people’s right to own them) but will on occasion shoot the 22 that possibly saved her life. I on the other hand, I have tightened security around my house....better locks and flood lights with my nickel plated 357 Blackhawk as backup.
My wife feels safer knowing I have guns in the house. I am an avid hunter, re-loader and gun freak and my wife love me the same. I am just glad that I still have her around to keep my bad habits in check.
Under those same conditions…I do not think a 5 foot woman holding a ball bat would have had the same effect. They take guns away…sure, we will survive….as slaves of the government and criminals. Vote them out…..1 term is all they should get. It is supposed to be public service…not a life career…VOTE THEM OUT! This is just my 2 cents worth.

Glenn...I have somewhat the same story a few years back. My wife has become well versed in handguns as a result of that incident and has insisted in have a few of her own (A revolver (.38 Spec), a semi-auto (9mm X 19 and a rifle (Her dad's .22). If you have guns in the house she should at least be familiar with them.

As far as term limits and voting them out after one term. I have no argument, except when we do have good one in office we should be able to keep him there...
