Vince,
Your BBQ sounds like a large version of my forge. Mine is 18 inches diameter and three feet long. Coal fired with a blower on one end running through a 2" pipe all the way through with a series of holes to feed air where I need it. I could use wood too but it gets a lot hotter with coal. |
WOW Paul....that sounds like it is awesome.
I don't have a hungi pit in my yard...they have stopped us from doing it because they say it isn't really hygienic in the city. There are a couple of industrious guys who have built a trailer mounted hungi, but I'm not sure how effective it is.
My BBQs these days are restricted to a 27" Weber and a 4 burner LPG Rinnai. When I go hunting I use a cast iron pan on the fire and a purpose designed hotplate/grill over the fire....basically a 15"x1/4" thick square plate with a 15" square grill welded to the plate and folding legs. When folded it is only 30"x15" and about 1" thick. Easy to transport and works a treat.
Go to NZ for a hunt...now there is an idea. We can get to NZ from here for only a couple of hundred dollars each way, and my hunting buddy has contacts on the South Island which is where the best hunting is. Hmmmm, a lot of food for thought there. Hey, that's where our mate
foreign lives too....woo hoo.
Cheers, Vince
