I have been running a pellet stove, Whitfield Advantage II for twelve years. I have replaced the auto ignitor twice and the auger motor once. I live in the Pacific NW and I go through 1 - 1 1/2 tons a year. we don't run it continuously anymore but we used to run it 24/7. If you find pellets that it likes you can run it a week between cleaning. I let it cool and then take the shop vac to it with a good filter in the vac. Pull the panels off and clean behind them about once a month. If it doesnt have the auto ignitor, get one if it will accept it. It is much easier to use. Experiment with pellet brands because there are big differences in heat output and how clean they burn, the brand I use here is "Clean Burn".

I just got it installed. The one I got from my ex is a little newer but there something wrong with the control board I think, the only way to stop the fan is to un plug it This one does not automatic ignite but thats fine I tested it out today just to make sure everything works and it does I was excited everything worked and my daughter told me to quit acting like a cave man here's a pic

Right out the with 3" short and sweet Maybe 3' total. Through a ceramic wall thimble and put a elbow at 45 degrees down for a termination. I also ran a fresh air intake 1 1/2 out side. Seems to work good. I'll try and get some pellets soon as well they should be cheaper now than this winter.

Well, We went to TSC and purchased a New USSC (US Stove Company)Combination heater. It will burn Wood pellets, Corn, Olive pits, And or Cherry pits. Its equiped with dual augers and an auto igniter.
Its normal price was $1799.00 we got it for $1199.00 + the government. and the installation kit was $300.00 more. All we need now is a floor piece to put it on and some nice paneling to go behind it.
Already have 3 tons of pellets the manufacturer recomended as well.

Mate....don't they make fires that burn just good old fashioned wood anymore? I reckon you would have to chomp an awful lot of olives and cherries to keep you warm in Winter. Thank goodness they don't run on prune pits.

Vince, all these things I have listed release MORE BTUS per volume than propane and are cheaper than propane as well. They all are readily available as well.
Joe, I did OK. No were near as good as you though.

Wow....they must burn really well. Are they easy to get started, or do they burn as readily as timber?

They sell a gel type fire starter to get the ball rolling if you have trouble with the auto igniter I guess. unsure just yet.

I sure feel obsolete and inadiquate with my four cords of wood split, stacked and drying...
