I wish we could all vote for the "right" candidate. Unfortunately the right candidate doesn't stand a chance. Ron Paul comes to mind here. He has (had) some good ideas except he was an isolationist (bad idea). The Constitution candidate is another good one that would make a good to great candidate, but who is he? Anyone know? That is the problem. Even if we know who he is. What is he about (besides the Constitution). Where does he stand on the issues of THIS day and time? Nobody knows. That's why they will loose. It takes more then just being a constitutionalist to run this country. And if you do vote for them you will get the worst of the three evils into office.

You get one of those candidates to run with as much public recognition as the Demos and Repubs and you might just have something. Ron Paul won't make it as he is too much off the cliff (wall)...

I think the best we can hope for on this go around is for Hillary to be bull headed enough to run as an independent and cause the dems to self destruct. It is a sorry situation all the way around. Reason, common sense, leadership, patriotism, and a real sense of who we are seem to all have disappeared! Sad

Bushy, I am not picking on you, but I am appalled at the number of people who do not understand the word "isolationist".

Ron Paul is not an isolationist. He is a non-interventionist. There is a HUGE difference. Since WWII, Americans have gotten comfortable with military adventurism. There is no constitutional warrant for such behavior.

Ron Paul is all for free trade and cultural exchange. Such positions are antithetical with isolationism.

From the Wiki:
Quote::
Isolationism is not to be confused with the non-interventionist philosophy and foreign policy of the libertarian world view, which espouses unrestricted free trade and freedom of travel for individuals to all countries.

Nope.

The best we can hope for is that, as an electorate, the majority of us will pull our collective heads out of our collective rectums and get past this two party myth.

I have argued until I have become blue in the face. Ron Paul would not only be a bad choice for president. He will not win. Neither will any of the other various grass roots parties...They just don't have the support. As I said before get them the exposure they need to win the support of the people and try not to run a nut job...

Otherwise then that...To stand any chance at all to save hunting and firearms, plug your nose and vote for the better of the three evils...

There may be no constitutional warrant for such behavior but in my opinion if the United States hasn't been doing it the last 70 years the world would be a very different place then it is today. Think about how the Free World would be if the United States didn't do what its been and continues to do so.

Dimitri,

There are more ways to get other regimes to see you point of view besides invading them. That may not be true for Mohammedans, but it works for communists because communism is ultimately unworkable. But the USA has made some serious gaffes, like in the Balkans. And we have supported some pretty brutal regimes which support makes me ashamed.

Bushy, Ron Paul might not be a good president. But your strategy to vote for evil is a loser. It will only take you where you don't want to go. I have said it before and I say it till I am blue in the face: if you don't get out and support those who are running on your principles, then you will end up living under someone else's principles. By plugging your nose, your are giving up.

This is maybe not the best place to post this...but it will suffice.

Check it out.

Here’s Why the Government Should Keep Their Hands Off Our Guns

Memorial Day, May 26th, 2008

On this Memorial Day please remember all the patriotic men and women who gave everything they had to preserve and protect our freedom.

It is these men and women, not the government, who for love of family and country, have shed their blood from the Revolutionary War to Iraq.

I believe the greatest freedom won by our Founding Fathers and protected by every generation that followed them is the Second Amendment. Our right to bear arms equal to the government — musket for musket, M16 for M16 — is what separates us from all other countries in the world.

Yet there are those in the government who would gladly strip away the greatest freedom a country has ever known under the guise of “public safety.”

Well, every now and then gun owners get a real glimpse of how inept government bureaucrats really are when it comes to the fallacy of gun control.

Thanks to a persistent reporter, a career gun grabber’s ignorance was exposed and in doing so, the absurdity of allowing the government to legislate anything involving guns was once again confirmed.

Watch this for real insight into the level of incompetence we can expect from those who create gun control legislation.

Firearm Ban Bill

I would normally offer such an ignorant legislator a free, four day course at Front Sight to enlighten her and put her on the road to recover her constitutional responsibility, but I can tell from the interview that she is already too far gone.

Instead, send this blog link to the reporter and tell him he can attend a course at Front Sight anytime. We need more reporters like him.

I am sorry, Vitnt2. I need to stay out of political threads. I get too worked up.

Phil,

Appeasement should never be an option in foreign affairs, when dealing with crazy dictators. There's only one thing that any two-bit dictator understands; total annihilation.

Hey Phil...There is no one more worked up about this and our so call government then me. I sit here and type with a stick in my mouth so I won't break my teeth from gritting them all the while trying to hold my temper...Stay somewhat reasonable and don't take it as a personal afront. Just politics being discussed during a hard time...Drive on...

Get MAD (we all should be MAD as hell)...Just don't take it personal...

I just find it interesting that the biggest supporters of our way of life in the U.S. is an Australian and a Canadian... Very Happy
