It's hard to put my colors up here because Sailors don't have "colors" so to speak...We have ships...Unless you mean "Haze Grey and Underway"...

Those who have served their country with honor and pride have my undying gratitude. I was unable to serve and I thank you for your gift of freedom. If the rest of the men and women had that kind of fortitude this country wouldn't be in the situation we are in right now - and all they have to do is study the facts before they vote. I am amazed at the way some people throw their freedom away at the polls just so they can feel more comfortable.
I don't have the right to salute the men and women who have given years, and more to keep me free but I am forever in their debt. I am proud of each of them. Thank you.

I guess we must clearify what Memorial day is. It is not to honor those Vets that are alive, but to honor those that have died. Whether it be in combat or old age. My day is Veteran's Day where we honor the living veterans...Lest we forget...

Memorial Day Wish To All
It's no longer called Decoration Day. There aren't as many solemn celebrations as in the past, but it is far more than the official kickoff weekend of summer. Memorial Day weekend is the weekend originally designated to honor the Union dead from the Civil War. It was expanded in World War I to include all Americans who died in military service to their country.
Today, it is more commonly remembered as the weekend of the running of the Indianapolis 500 and the beginning of summer. True to that idea, schools in our area finish today, freeing kids for another summer of fun.
As a Decoration Day tradition, many Americans will visit cemeteries and memorials to place wreaths in honor of fallen friends, relatives and comrades. It's the weekend that all national cemeteries sprout small American flags. It is also a continuation of a tradition of honoring the fallen that dates to the Greeks. They honored their dead, especially their heroes, with chaplets of laurel and flowers.
We are enjoying this holiday weekend with our families, and hope you have the same privilege.
In the meantime, take a moment to thank those who serve, have served, and remember it is true that "all gave some; some gave all."
To each of them, our sincere thanks.

Bushy is correct. Memorial Day is to honor those who have fallen. I will be attending a parade in small town America where we recall what the day really means. I am taking my one year old English Springer Spaniel so she will know, too. Take care...

I wear my Dad's Dog Tags under my shirt year around.
On Memorial Day, I wear it outside of my shirt.
Bushy, I hope that we don't have to Honor you on Memorial Day for many more years.
At least until you finish your term in the White House

Sir..
To stand at ease is not possible....
To stand at attention is not either...
To stand "at the ready" is where I spent my time....
To stand inspired and "at the ready" is the real trick.......

I have a hard time on Memorial Day, as a rule. I spent many years wondering (through an alcoholic haze) why I was spared while many of my comrades had to make the ultimate sacrifice. I fought the guilt, and all the accessories that came with it, for quite a while. Then, I was made to realize that I was spared because my services would be required later. I am disabled to a certain degree, but my mind still works. So, to my fallen comrades, I would like to say "Thank you for the honor of serving with you. Your stories will continue to be told wherever brave men and women gather. Ouuuraaah!"
