Bushy - can you teach me how to tie a "Monkey Fist" - I want to use it to throw at my neighbor because his dog has been leaving remnants in my yard that have traveled through it's Windward Passage!

I can tie a bunch of knots and I can eye splice, back splice, long splice and do some fancy braiding, but I never learned to do a monkey's fist. But for starters you will need a golfball size piece of lead though...Not a deckape. I was a snipe...

Here your monkey fist. I have made them and it is not hard to do. An old Airdale also.
My sea duty was out on Monday and back in port by Friday 3 weeks out of the month. Then we were in for a week.
It is forward and up on the starboard side and down and aft on the port side. And the ladder are set up this way also. I alway took the escalator from flight deck to mess deck.

Jack,
The Fairy Tale has a happy ending but the Sea story has a ending you wish not to repeat ??

Whats with the sad faces Jack ??
I honestly never heard a good sea story, so I don't know what they are about, was just thinking about Down Parascope when I thought of Sea story, and I'm sure that little story of his is one he wished not to repeat.

Jack,
My sailing days ended before they started sadly enough, won't be joining the Canadian Forces anytime soon after the stunt they pulled when I went to reapply after college last year.

Upon second thunk it aint a turks head I'm thinkin of , cause IIRC the turks head is the knot used for the monkey fist ..
This knot that I'm thinking of is a show knot , not a werking knot ..

GroovyJack...You in need of a Sea Lawyer? You stood brig duty? How 'bout that. I spent 2 years as a section leader guard duty at Pier 91 Brig in Seattle...All sailor operated brig. No Marines except as prisoners.

Don't you mean Submarine Base Bangor, WA.? I'm a "plank owner" (another word). I was incharge of the Oil Spill Recovery Team from 1981 to 1983. Then transfered to the USS Pledge (MSO 492) and retired in 1986.
The Navy sent me to San Diego for training. Ours was a yellow line when I was there...
