Hey Bushy,
I believe skepticism is one of the highest hallmarks of the American society. We are a questioning bunch, no? Life experience only cofirms that we should view any information with some reservation as we see contraction after contradiction. Too, we may find some of our long held opinions are altered as more accurate information emerges, hence, we need to be open minded as well. Far out ideas sometimes come forth with overwhelming evidence. But, Missouri still reminds us to be members of the "show me" attitude.
Now, about those reversed engineered features from the Roswell crash . . . . .

Handloader,
Based on the fact that NASA's experiments prove that simple elements in deep space will form amino acids and with enough luck may create life, or if you believe in God surely he did create life on other planets. But the chance of us and another life form out there from another planet ever meeting I think is impossible, the distances and the like, don't see it happening. Unless ofcourse we find a tablet God made up with directions to the other planet he created life on. Cause the Universe is pretty big, probably there is life out there, but the chance of out of all these star systems we'd meet I think is the "far out there" part of science fiction.

I think we'd be pretty arogant to believe that God only made us. That's a waste of good space. As Vince says, "She" (God) may not want us visiting one another. Heck most people can't even get along with their close neighbors or relatives.

Well, Dimitri, that is the stuff of movies, books and imagination. I've spent some time in various observatories in the SW and find that astronomers (scientists) are of a skeptical mind, but, that leads them to the conclusion that intelligent life is highly probable.
I believe some of Einstein's basic concepts of speed of light will be challenged effectively in the forthcoming years and show us that time/space is malleable and can be transversed in the blink of an eye. Keep in mind that time is only a concept that may have little bearing in the universal sense. To Einstein time and space bore equvilancy, therefore, space, too, is relative. We simply need to know how to manipulate one to manipulate the other. Sound far fetched?
Imagine trying to explain the SR-71 or the Atlas rocket to someone in 1910. I can recall when Dick Tracey's "cell phone" was laughed at only 40 some years ago and I recall many scoffing at the idea that someone could download entire movies in their own home -- that was in 2000.
Ah, John Titor, where are ya lad?

And it was a known fact that you couldn't break the speed of sound and if you happen to do that many bad things would happen to you...Not too many years ago...

I might be young but I have read alot about old "beliefs" and the like, such as you cannot go the speed of sound, going to the moon is far fetched and will never happen, heck there were skeptics when it came to people flying cause it was tried for thousands of years but never worked out. Just cause we cannot do something today doesn't mean we wont be able to do it tomorrow.
I don't agree with Einstein about the speed of light ether. Not only him saying we cannot go that fast but him also saying "time will pass slower" the faster you go. A bunch of old clocks on a train is hardly a indication time passing slower I'd say.

Handloader,
According to John Titor, all of the above will be come irrelevant in the future anyway, am I correct? From skimming through his information a while back, it seems that the only things that will be relevant in the future will be water and ammunition. I think he disapeared after that interview. Curious!

Vince,
You're the first person that I've ever had the pleasure of talking to that understands (without coaching), that outrunning reflected light will enable one to actually see past historic events, providing you had a telescope powerful enough. In fact, in theory, it would be possible to out-run the speed of light (by 60 million light years and look back into the Cretaceous period) and watch dinosaurs. Amazing concept. But, it would only be like watching time travel on TV.
As far as time slowing down, it might appear so, but in reality you'll still get old just as fast. That's my theory.

How did the conversation evolve from lower gas prices to this (Science Forum)?
I'd rather talk science than gas prices. The later agrivates me.

I understand looking at light from a distance reveals the past, because if you look at a star going Super nova 100 million light years away what your seeing today actually happend 100 million years ago.
I'm refering that if you were going close not at or faster then (cause hes ideas state that you cannot go the speed of light) you will take longer for the rest of the universe then you, so you could in theory do a 50 year trip based on the speed of light but only end up getting 6 months older.

I am *strongly* concidering buying a CNG conversion kit for my truck. CNG is Compressed Natural Gas, it is NOT propane. It burns cleanly with near the power of gas.
CNG in my state is .79 cents per gallon currently. You can buy a filling station that hooks into your home natural gas line to give you a means to fill up quickly at home. On the road a converted rig can switch between CNG and Gas so even if you arent near a CNG filling station, you can switch back to normal gas for a while.
Thats mighty tempting as fuel prices keep climbing...
