Thanks to all for the replies.

I saw a similar artical on the Ken Light tool that has been mentioned in the link. It was one of the reasons I asked for help on the issue.

Allthough they make valid concerns on the issue of annealing I belive its about the selling of a product more than anything.(the last thing I need is another tool I dont really need!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I did forget to mention in my prior response another method that works well, and will not ruin brass, if you are casting bullets. With the case mouth down, stick the case into the molten lead pot, up to the bottom of the shoulder, remove the case, then dip the hot case into water. This method is very quick and actually without exposure to a water-lead explosion. Just do not try to redo the lead pot annealing with a wet case. Very Happy

Ken is a good guy but, he does have some contraptions, the annealing machine is a contraption in my opinion.

uh-huh...I hope so. I hate sleeping in the light. Especially as fast as it's traveling...I have a hard enough trouble keeping up with it in the daylight as it is now. Sure glad that the dark does not move...

Annealing is an aspect of reloading that every reloader should at least know how to perform........

'Course, I think everyone should know how to cast bullets as well.

I've done the candle/oil lamp to cold water with bare fingers, and the torch to cold water with zero problems...heating beyond the first sign of a color change, however, is overkill.

Tho' I disagree little with Barsness, on most things, I can't see the wet towel being better than a cold dunking......I should ask him 'bout that.

Annealing straight walled cases is a waste of effort....

I see the most benifit in over bored chamberings.

Dipping cases in moltened lead do get 'em to the proper temp to soften the brass but the lead that "solders" to the case inside and out gets to be a pain in the ass to remove after a couple times.......BT/DT.....once.
