Gidday to you.
its a cherokee word meaning nighthawk. I am of the Keetoowah Clan.
Keetoowahs long ago were the warriors that went in first to do recon, enemy count etc.
its just a nickname i use in honor of my family members.
thank you for the response, I am glad you like the pics.

Good morning Vince.
Most of our words in the Tsalagi language do sound like the meaning.
Owl is oo oo and bottle is goo goo dv (v = a nasal soft grunt sound)
We are still very much in touch with our Mother, and yes the abos and us are children of the Earth. I was in Brissy & (Enoggera) in 2000 and had the blessing of sitting with some elder women of the Tjabukai clan from Cairns. We talk of the similiarties of each of our cultures. Its still alive there in there eyes, they just had to adopt to the white way just like us. We keep our ways alive by living as close to the earth as we can, its the oral traditions that seem to be lost according to them. I also sat with a Maori grandmother on the trip home and found their culture too very wonderful and very much alive
I was in Vic in 2002 for a month lived in a tent and fished for my meal every day down near Shelly Beach and Lake Tyres.
Didnt get much exposure to the aborigines there sadly. but flatties are my fav with a side of dim sim, and pav for dessert. It seems to me the Aussie Gov has worked harder than the US to make some things right for the original ones. Our gov hasnt done too much and its been a battle all the way.
The Cherokee nation is the second largest nation in the US. Navajos are the biggest. In Canada the Cree are the largest nation.
anything you would like to know or sites I can share with you just say the word chum.
off to have a cuppa and get to work.
regards
ps you have a cool airport
