GJ,
See, it is CRS, just like me. The Walton line is what you remember to the east, Santa Rosa is out by Navarre, other direction. Capt. Dave's was down on harbor, over water, in the middle of Destin, had all of the big, old, fish mounts on the wall. It was destroyed by Opal in 95. Green Knight was a big Green statue of a Knight, about 3 stories high that stood by 98 in Destin for years, was a hangout for the locals, Trashy White band played there every night except Sunday.
Actually, I live on Indian Bayou, on the north side of Destin. That south side beach business is a real problem if you like any privacy at all. The bayou is the best of all worlds, water and no clowns wondering around in your back yard at midnight or daybreak.
If it was John the III dealer he and I traveled the show circuit for years. He and his wife drove an older VW Bug and would be a real nasty suprise for someone in a road rage incident. He had a nice little 22 LR American Arms gun I wanted, but I bought a M-16 shorty (10" bbl & colapsable stock) instead. I also liked his Mac guns, especially the 32 ACP, whatever model that was, it was a real ripper.
Been through your area a few times and hunted twice in the Greenville area, until I figured out my host, a lease holder, was an outlaw hunter, then I was gone.
I was the match director / range master at the Eglin R & G on Hurlburt for 22 years.
Did you know Martin Green, he was the AL state silhouette director during the time I was the director for Florida. The range he ran was north of Montgomery. I shot with those guys a few times.

Capt. Dave's was west a bit from LL. At the foot of the bridge now is the Lucky Snapper on the south side at the harbor, but years ago it was the Warf Restaurant. The new Capt. Dave's is on the Walton county line on old 98, right on the beach. Jane, Dave's X still owns it.
I live on the north side of the bayou, off Indian Trail. So instead of going up Airport, you go up Main Street at AmSouth bank. Today the opposite corner (west) has a CVS Pharmacy on it, but years ago, that is where the Green Knight stood.
Hayneville is a neat little town. Love the area for the natural beauty, big trees, rolling hills, streams and creeks, etc. Bo-Sefus lives fairly close to there as I recall.

Ok, we are near figuring this out. Main Street is indeed near the old Winn Dixie shopping center, street runs N-S. The "restaurant" to the west of fisherman’s is AJs, Allen Lairds place now. However it was Bayou Bills some years ago.
Back some time ago Hank used to live north of Georgiana, between Montgomery and there. Hank was the field rep for the RCA at the time. At the RCA show in Montgomery, where I had 3 tables of OM SA guns, a copy of my black walnut freestanding Heraldic Eagle centerpiece was made on a piece of hard paper. My centerpiece became Hank's presentation plaque for those that helped him in his shows. So, if you ever saw him give that big plaque away, it is a copy of my eagle. Little world ain't it?
