IF I had any infuence on where Winchester could start a new plant with a good employee base and an intelligent state tax/regulations system, it would likely be in SC.

Certainly NOT in NC, where I live! The liberals dominate this state and the NJ style high-handed government with high taxes, stiff regulations of all type, corruption, etc., show it.

Damn I love the good natured banter and rib digging that goes on here. I mean where else could you go and have people saying, and actually believing, that a Marlin is a superior rifle to the Winchester 94. Best part about it is that nobody gets upset by having the fact that the Mod 94 is superior being pointed out to them.

Sure, the Marlin 336 in 30.30 is a nice rifle, and it is pretty accurate, but it just doesn't have the class, panache, elegance or flair of the greatest hunting rifle ever produced, the rifle used to take more game than any other, the stylish and mighty Winchester Model 94. A squillion hunters and shooters can't be wrong.

Well there ya go, the facts as they are. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Cheers, Vince

My Dad was a gunsmith and a gun maker Vince, and he would say the same
as you; "More deer killed with the Model 94 30-30 than any other gun."
He would then add;" More deer wounded buy that piece of crap too" Mad Mad Mad Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
Crap is not the exact word that he used, but you get the idea what he thought of the model 94.
He did say back then that the best and smoothest action in a lever was the Model 71 .348, and any REAL MAN used a .348 or the 45/70.
He never mentioned the Model 94 30-30 and REAL MEN in the same sentence that I can remember. wtf wtf Very Happy Very Happy Laughing Laughing

Actualy I would rather have one of the new Marlin XLR's in a .450. I do have a Marlin but it's a mod. 60, .22 and I really like the way it shoots. If I absolutely had to have a 30-30 it would be an H&R Handi rifle (that way I could load up some Hornady A-Max for it).

Winchester... HMMMMMMM, where have I heard that name before? Wasn't there someone on M.A.S.H. named Winchester? Oh well, not that important. ROFL Poke Bang Head Misc

I use a 30-30 to shoot sparrows off of the railing.
You have to be real careful on shot placement to get a clean kill though. Very Happy

I'm going to rib both the Marlin and Winchester fans with this but oh well. Very Happy

Real men use the 1895 alright, the Winchester 1895 chambered in 405Win (Like Theodore Roosevelt). Cool Now all a gun company has to do is modify the 1895 to eject like the Marlin's (to the side) and I'd be sold on one because the brass wont hit me in the head like the top ejecting Winchester's like to do. wtf
