Nice,
I plan on building myself a match rifle one of these days in 30-06.

Dimitri,
if you do not have a gunsmith in mind, I would like to build your rifle for you. I have been building bolt guns since 1983 and would be honored if you would allow me to build you a MATCH rifle in 30-06. If you would be interested in this, please let me know....

Deer Sniper,
No gunsmith in mind. It will be a couple of years before I am able to build the rifle though. At this point in time I can't afford it I owe too much money (well not that much about 5,000$ still its alot for me and it gets priority) to my student loans.
However in case your wondering what I'm thinking about Remington M700 Long action chambered in 30-06 and blueprinted (No Sako type extractor), Kwik Kilp Remington Long Action Magazine system, Lilja No.6 Contour Stainless Steel Barrel 26" barrel, HS Precision PST05C Stock, Nightforce 1pc Base+Rings and a Nightforce NXS 3.5 - 15 x 50 scope with NP1-RR recitical.
This would be my "go to" hunting/target shooting rifle once completed.

Dimitri,
sounds like one serious hunting / target shooting machine and should be able to handle just about any hunting or shooting situation you come across...
I've got another picture to show you of a rifle that I completed a couple months ago.......if I can find it....

Nice gun,
Well the gun I want to have built has been my dream gun for some time it was a long and hard time to research to come up with the "prefect" gun in my opinion.

Dimitri,
have you priced out your "dream gun" for each individual part? If you get a chance, price it ouy and let me know what the total cost would be and I'll give you a price for putting it all together for you. You can send me a PM if you like, if you are interested...

vint2,
remember this picture, I'm one who just can't leave well enough alone and had to strip it down and rechamber it ...
I rechambered it to the 30-30 Ackley Improved, removed the muzzle brake and recrowned it, then put everything back together again. If need be, I can still shoot factory ammo in the gun and in fact, the factory loaded SPEER 150 gr. Grand Slam load will still shoot just under 1-inch at 100 yards for 3-shot groups....

The cartridges on either side are 30-30 Ackley Improved and the one in the middle is just a regular 30-30 round ready to be fireformed in the guns chamber....

deer sniper,
I have to say you sure seem to know your stuff when it comes to rifle building. Personally, I don't want to shoot anything that's a thousand yards away, cuz then I have to go fetch it and pack it out. Mostly where I hunt is pretty heavy bush and most of my kills have been between 100 and 200 yards. Shortest ever was once when I walked over a little hump in a trail and there was a bull moose just standing there munching on some willow shoots. We caught each other by surprise, I acted first. He was only about 40 yards away. could throw any hunting skill out the window on that one, it was pure luck. Glad to hear you only go for the kill shot too.
Keetowah, vint2's advice is right for what you need.

tracker,
thank you Sir..... I have been building rifles since 1983 and I would like to think that I have learned something after all these years ...
With the open fields and flat land that we had in Mississippi and now here in Oklahoma, if you shoot something way out yonder, just get in your truck and drive out to it with no problem...
Me personally, if I'm going to shoot something up close, ei., less than a hundred yards, then I'll grab a handgun. Handguns include a Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 Casull, a Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44 magnum and a T/C Contender in 308 Predator - a cartridge that I designed and developed that is based on the 444 Marlin case necked down to .30 caliber and maxed out. All pistols wear a Bushnell 2X-6X handgun scope in 4-millett angle lock rings and all guns have muzzle brakes and are set up for sling carry, trigger jobs and basically fully customized to the fullest extent....

I'm in Canada partner, takes more red tape to carry a handgun than it does to get an appointment with the Pope

Whether you go through the red tape to carry one (and that would be extremely rare) or not you still can't ever hunt with it anywhere in Canada.

I am very familiar with the Canadian laws concerning handguns. I do wish it were easier on you guys as I have a couple friends that live in Canada but come to visit me every year just so they can handgun hunt for deer and wild hogs....
