I don't know why but my father has started to use my old gummy bear containers (I love the little bears) for his gun powder. My and my mother thinks he's nuts for doing this. Any oppions on if gummy bears and gun powder go together or am I and my mother over reacting to this new found use for the old containers.
He uses the gummy worms for a different brand of powder.

One should not remove the powder from it's original containers and store the powder in something else. NO...Gummy Bears and gun powder do not mix...

Bushmaster is right, that gunpowder will not work so well with gummy bears and makes them hard to eat!!! Smile

I think the powder comes from the bullets that he takes about. Don't ask why he does it, I just don't know. The gummy bears don't make it more than 2 days around so the containers are empty when he starts. But that would make one strange load. Maybe a gum up the barrell a bit though.

Unless he knows, for sure, what the powder is he should flush it down the toilet, burn it in small piles or use the unknown powder to fertilize the lawn. He should not reload it unless he absolutely knows what it is. his face hands and fingers just aren't worth it...

Yes mr. bushmaster, I know exactly what and which powder it is. the ammo boxes have reload data labels on them. all the powder was from the same brand and lot #. I took them apart to reload them for a lighter round. I ,like eveyone here, keep accurate records and data labels on the 20 or 50 rd boxes. my thoughts exactly though, if you don't know what it is positively for sure, dump it. I know you were looking out for my best interest. I hope I didn't sound harsh with my first line. hope you and yours have a great day. I know I won't. not with what's on the docate at work. Dave Smile

Ya my dad does keep good load data, he's had me help with the typing of the info. It's just that isn't there anything better than gummy bear containers.

rdncktink,
I use old coffee cans I get at work from the coffee club to keep my brass in. I suppose they would store old powder also. I am not sure of flavor of the coffee if the cans should get mixed up with the real stuff!

I am sure the big guy knows not to use, used powder like that, probably pulling it to try to figure the loads, and or old loads he has done himself.. BUT it is still nice to hear cause we all forget the little things...
