Are there any tools out there to go over existing checkering to make it more pronounced? I have some checking on a .22 that looks like it was lightly sanded and would like to carefully go over it, restoring it to the original look.

Yep, Brownell's has all of your gunsmithing needs including some parts. Other parts are available from gunparts.com and Jack First gun parts.

You'll have to restain the areas that you rechecker. It may be difficult to match the colours, but I don't think that really matters. I've see two tone stocks where the checkered areas were different in stain color. It looks pretty good if well done. You can check the stockmaking websites. Many of them sell the required tools for do it yourselfers. Brownells carries a good supply also. www.brownbells.com Best wishes.

Hey Dallan,

I just had an idea (dangerous). If anyone wants to give a shooter a great and inexpensive present the Brownells catalog just might fill the bill. They'll ship you one for $10.00. They make a great gift for the man who has everything. Just an idea. Best wishes.
