Just got the state deer drawing results (all deer tags are draw now) and found out she didnt draw her general season rifle tag. They have leftover archery tags that she did draw (I put that as a second choice so she could at least hunt if she didnt draw rifle... now its coming back to haunt me).

Anyone recommend a good womens bow?

Howdy Dallan. (lol) You got a new savage and scope so she gets a new bow hugh Razz . I stick with pse bow's i worked for a archery shop (quite a few years back) and the pse customer service and waranty were second to none. We would fix waranty problems with bows off the shelf and pse would next day air the parts, made every body happy!. With that being said most of the major bow makers have great warantys and service. A bow for your wife would depend on her draw length and and how much weight she can pull, i would try and set a min weight of 40 pounds for big game hunting if she has to go lighter just keep the shots under 20 yards and it should do fine. Your best bet is to go to a shop and see what fits her you may be able to use a youth bow depending on her draw length. A lot of bows have adjustable let off now you may want to look into one of these, start off with the higher let off and as her arms get stronger you could set it lower ( more arrow speed Smile ) Any how hope this helps.

Interesting. I detest PSE bows because IMO, they have the worst warrenty and customer service out there. I once had a nice PSE and had a limb shatter on it (many years ago). I took it back to the shop I bought it from and they just shrugged and said "well looks like the lifetime warrenty is up on it dont it?" I was furious. They then graciously offered to "knock $20 off the price on a new bow". I tried contacting PSE managers directly... no go. In the end I stuck the bow in the trash can and swore I'd never own another. It took me 20 years before I bought another bow (last year).

Perhaps things have changed since then for PSE but I still get mad when I think back on my situation.

Great tips. Yea we'll probably stop off at a bow shop today for kicks and let her feel a couple. Shes VERY nervious about getting into bows so I plan to take it slow while she gets used to it. They are alot of fun even in non-hunting situations... but as I explained to her last night, its either bow or you dont get to hunt deer this year.

Howdy Dallan. I wouldn't be very happy if i was treated like that either. If we had bows come in with a broke limb on a lifetime waranty we took a bow off the rack and replaced the limbs ( both of them) and pse would send us replacment ones. Thats a shame you were treated that way they won't keep customers like that. The shop owner i worked for cared about there customers ( witch they all should). Let me no how you make out bow shopping i am interested on what you end up with. Tell your wife not to be nervous archery is just consistancy shoot each shot the same and practice also shooting release's (if legal in your state) will allow her to pull back more weight than with her fingers and imo more consistant with a compound bow( the faster the bow the harder it is to shoot fingers) just my 2 cents worth.

I hav a PSE as well. I have never had a problem with it, but I would hope that they take care of it if something did go wrong with it. If you dont like them go with a different brand. Matthews and Hoyt make great bows, but they want a lot of $$$$ for them as well. I guess its kinda like buying a Leupold scope, you really get what you paid for. Very Happy
Go see if you can find a decent used bow from the shop.

Dallan, IMHO the best bow for a woman is one on the front of a dress or pair of shoes - that shuts them up faster than duct tape and lets you get on with the important stuff in life, like having fun Smile

You don't understand Dallan's family. They all hunt and enjoy hunting together. You should see some of the animals that Dallan's wife has taken in the last few years.
Same with my family. I hunt and the wife is a outdoor photographer. We go out together all year round. Nothing better than a family that hunts together! My wife even holds the legs on deer when I'm field dressing the deer. Laughing
It may not be for you but for our family's it's the best way.

Haha I wish my wife just took pictures... I'm getting too old to drag out multiple big deer each season.

I enjoy it, its a different type of excitement as its my job to get her the shot, its her job to hit it. When she pulled the trigger and missed the big 4x4 last year at 200 yards I about fainted.. talk about excitement. The buck only ran about 20 yards and stopped in some sage, she couldnt see it... I was directing her to it feeling that sence of urgency... after an eternal 15 seconds she finally says Ok I see it now and pulls the trigger. It was very rewarding to hear that "whap" of the bullet impact.

Hunting it something that gets us out together and while she is very nervous about trying a bowhunt for the first time, I know I can get her within 30-40 yards of a spike / forkhorn pretty darn easy. Whether or not she hits it I dont care, as long as she gets a shot thats all I care about.

Thanks for all the advice.
