Missouri is an "open carry" state. Towns can regulate, to some extent, open carry within the city limits as to who open carries.

Please explain this. How can taking the ability to protect one's self and family be "for their own protection"? :scratch
I spent almost 20 years in law enforcment and yet to see someone protect themselves unarmed

I suppose I’m thinking like a trained firearms owner and shooter looking at someone who is obviously not well trained, if at all, waving firearms about. I suppose you could compare it to the drunk who is “locked up” for his own safety, then released in the morning when he sobered up.
Having said that, I agree totally that removing his firearms did in fact remove his ability to protect his family and property.
Bushy, I’ve heard about the St Louis Attorney General. Is this an appointed position or is she voted in by the people? If it’s a voted position then the local NRA branch should run a strong campaign against her to stimulate votes in the right direction.

You are forgiven this time, Vince. You are not required to have training in this state to own a firearm. We assume (I know, I know. An ass of you & me) that you will take the responsibility to get training.
She is voted in.

I have seen a post that President Trump provided a security detail for the home and family the night they had firearms taken. Do not know if this is true. I have also heard that several FFL's have offered ARs for him, again don't know if it is true.

Sounds like the adults have stood up and started to sort this out. Too bad it got this far. I do not trust any of these states to uphold their own laws and abide by the constitution. I am afraid that we are going to have to take our safety into our own hands.

I've already done that. Living 4 miles from the nearest town (Ava pop. 2999 unless I'm there) The sheriff is as much as 30 minutes away.

They have been told by the local DA that they will be charged. The state AG said he is going to fight for dismissal and the governor says they will be pardoned before they leave the courtroom if they are found guilty.
The mayor and DA better think hard before they try to bring charges.

Hmmm...sounds like there might be a bit of internal dissension Amongst the authorities.
What is the “chain of command”, level of authority within the MO State Authority? I would have thought that the Governor would have ultimate say and have the authority to tell the local Mayor and DA to pull their heads in and drop it. I also thought that the AG would be over and above the DA and have the authority to do the same...local Mr Mayor and local DA...shut up and leave it...NOW.

Vince,
You have the pecking order right and the AG can and is going to intervene but he can't stop the local action. The governor has the power to make all their work null and void after the fact but can't stop it from happening.
What I see is the DA and mayor are anti-gun and want to prosecute to warn people not to try to defend themselves. I doubt there are 12 people to sit on a jury who would convict them anyway. This is a political ploy that has no chance of working. They are already offering a plea deal if they say they are sorry the charges will be dropped. The couple aren't going for it. They will hang in there for a full trial rather than give in to the liberals. Besides they have a guarantee of a full pardon so they have nothing to lose.

PaulS - You are right. I listened to him on a news show yesterday and he said "I am pissed now!" They are both lawyers of some sort, he has said that he doesn't have criminal law experience. I think the prosecutor in this in for a hard ride.
This reminds me of 1968. The Democrats know they are going to loose big and they are trying to scare folks into voting the way they want them to.

I am more concerned with the democrats than I am with the thugs on the street. (I haven't seen any of the thugs but the politicians are all over).
The law frowns on shooting politicians but it is OK to shoot the thugs that are attacking you. The democrats are attacking too but they are a protected species, or something.

PaulS - Let me know if you figure a way to protect our family and property from politicians (I know voting is suppose to take care of that....but). Preferably an effective weapon that destroys one that irks one.
