Ok an update re. my eardrum.
After a few days of uncomfortable feelings, I contacted the doc again.
And as a result of that, this morning he GLUES the parts together .
Now I can hear again but have to keep the ear really dry for a few weeks to ensure the healing.
Never know a drop of glue can cost $1200 !!!

So far so good, I can hear sounds but not very distinct, I hope it would improve with time.

So, ear drum glueing, what is the prognosis on your generally level of "domestic" deafness?

Selective hearing is not really a hearing disorder, it happens in the brain when a subconscious urge represses the signal from the ear to the brain. As long as your brain is working it shouldn't affect your selective hearing.;)

Selective hearing? That's what my better other half says I have. Just because I have had two stapedectemies.

Gelandangen,
You need an excuse?
By the time I get through discussing her lack of detailed instructions my wife apologizes to me.
I always tell her it isn't really her fault just to make her feel more guilty.

Yes, well my wife has stopped shooting because her hands sometimes move without her telling them to. It's a shame because we both like shooting. I am in the process of training her to shoot the smaller caliber guns and the lighter rifles from the hip. I have concerns when she is alone in the house. She can't or won't trust herself with even the 9mm so we are working on the 22LR auto loaders and revolvers and the 22LR pump rifle.
I have in my mind to get her shooting the ARs from the hip at close range. That way she can have a gun within reach and not need to train to reload.
You reminded me of a friend that I had who taught his girl friend to shoot his double action Colt. He came home one afternoon and she was upset with him. She aimed one of his revolvers at his head and pulled the trigger. The gun was a single action and she didn't know to cock the hammer first. For some reason they separated that day after the police paid them a visit.

Yup...I plan on getting caught in bed with an 18 year old when I'm 100 by my wife. Dummy me not only bought her a gun, I also taught her how to shoot.
You talk about extremes. I carry a Kimber .45 ACP and she carries a
Beretta Bob Cat .22.
By The Way Gelandangan...How's that ear commin'.
