It begs to question and I am not trying to start a shite storm but, is your wife holding the rifle correctly? Is she mounting the rifle in such a manner as to bring it into her shoulder without moving her head along side her neck in the hollow of her shoulder. A good test is for her to get into whatever position that she wants, have her close her eyes and hand her the UNLOADED bolt out, rifle and with her eyes still closed, mount the rifle. You stand in front of her and watch carefully, step out of the front of the rifle and then have her open her eyes. YOU WILL THEN WATCH CAREFULLY. Explain what is going to happen first then execute it. It will help both you and her. Then have her test you. You will be surprised what you find out.

I am NOT standing in front of anyone holding a rifle!
I don't care if the trigger group has been removed!
She is gonna have to arrive at a resolution another way, Thank you!
The parent case for the 22-250 is the 250-3000 0r 250 savage.
Just use a rifle chambered in that!

And nor should you as you most likely don't have the skills to make an informed opinion. That being said, to assess if a person is mounting a rifle or for that matter a shotgun correctly takes some skill and experience. For rifles, I have a few years of experience and for shotguns I think the go to guy would be Vince. IMHO

I must admit I feel uncomfortable with the idea of standing in front of someone holding a rifle, but after many years of training soldiers weapon handling skills in the Army, I sorta got used to doing it correctly. Most important is to ensure the firearm is in a safe condition.

Having said that, I can understand your feelings. There is an easy way to check mount and rifle hold without standing in front...do it in front of a large mirror. This way you stand behind her and looking in the mirror you will see exactly the same problems if they exist. This way, the “shooter” can also see the rifle and any problems. I occasionally use this method to check I am holding the rifle or shotgun straight and consistently.

Shotgun is a bit more complicated because you are not lining up sights or looking through a scope...the pattern placement is reliant upon a consistent mount and in the case of a moving target (which the always are) lead and keeping the gun moving. Additionally, correct choke figment is also to be considered.

the dreaded f word that rhymes with grinch could come into play aswell...here is MY test for it (did it again last week to a chap with dramatic results) you load rifle for shooter and hand it to them with round chambered and bolt ready to drop down..they shoot at target, you reload it again and hand it to them, they stay on mound/in prone you turn around and load rifle for them...after a few shots, slip them a Micky.....poke empty case in,hand it over as before...SAY AND DO NOTHING DIFFERENTLY.....now watch carefully what happens when trigger is pulled.....in my buddies case last week muzzle went down and left...where his shots had been going......message was delivered....
which reminds me.....brand new browning left hand bolt action..VERY VERY nice....given two boxes of 150grn superpreformance ammo...4 of the rounds ended up with brass flowing surverly into ejection hole...one broke surface of brass in this ring and one popped a primer!!!!!!!!
on brighter note he shot his 2nd deer ever with his 8th shot.
adviced him to buy some Winchester factory 180grn power points and just be a happy man.....150 yards would be a loooong shot for him so why punish your self with a hot load????

I'm waiting for delivery of a 22-250 which should arrive on Tue/wed, along with another .270
The 22-250 is mainly intended for foxes but I'll also use it for Chinese water deer & muntjac.
It's a 1:10 twist, so the heaviest bullet I'm going to try in it is the 63gr Sierra Semi Point (#1370). This & Sierra's 60gr HP (#1375) might be OK for roe does in Scotland(.243 minimum here in England) but I have the .243 for that.

I'm using the 63 gr SMP of Sierra in my .222's. But doesn't Sierra call them a "varmint-bullet"? So I'm not sure what they are going to do at .22-250 velocities… I know they are very good for roedeer in the .222 (at least when the twist is fast enough to stabilize 63 gr)

Aye, I'll see how they perform on foxes before I consider them for deer of any species - don't want anything that blows up on entry & shreds everything without penetrating to heart/lungs.

Winchester made a 0.224" 64 grain Power-Point that I understand was made for deer hunting. Now they have an Extreme Point, also designed for deer.

well how things have changed in a few short years...I DO now own a 22-250 and as predicted I love it..... AND I have shot a pig and a couple of deer with it...admittedly they were fallow hinds and neither was at barrel stretching range.
first was rather messy finishing shot at CLOSE range, went for head /neck and hit spine mid way up back.....yip MESSY describes it best.....
2nd one was super cool calm n collected...all of 75yards,graizing away, poked a 50 grn ttsx into neck..instant ragdoll as it should have been.
the pig was one of first animals I shot with it...factory 55grn winchester load and it went through 20lb pig without making too severe of mess. awesome for varmits...now its suppressed it is a MUCH MUCH nicer rifle to use, previously 3 shots would have my ears ringing for days.

In Texas, a 20-pound pig is still a piglet.

yeah yeah...it is here too....but the little huas were ripping up dairy pasture so had to go....it fitted dressed out into 5 bread bags.
and a really BIG wild pig here will go just over 200lb...very very few get above 250lb
unlike your european boar xbreeds which will go over 400lb.
