Every shooter worries about the efficiency of their cleaning process, or suddenly develop problems that may be due to copper buildup. Most of us wish we had borescopes to see just what is going on in those dark places that we just can't see.

I have always been one of these people but just couldn't force myself to spend the $300 - $900 for a Lyman or Hawkeye borescope. Thankfully, I found a solution that thrills me. I have been hearing rumors about a new inexpensive borescope that is getting huge approval ratings. The scope is the Teslong Rifle Borescope at an unbelievable $49.99! I ordered one, got it yesterday and got this image within 10 minutes of opening the package and downloading the app on my Samsung S9.

The unit is available on Amazon and works with Android, Mac, and Windows (no IPhone). It comes with the USB cord, adapter for USB-C and a nifty little fold-down end that accommodates older Android charging/connection points. The scope portion is 42" and has a removable 45-degree mirror for inspecting lands and grooves that can be removed for lighting straight down the bore. The camera/mirror is small enough for .20 caliber bores and adjusts for focus by screwing in or out. Bores over .45 caliber might get a bit fuzzy for focus, but so far no issues for me.

Yes, it is made in China, but this company is extremely aggressive about quality control and meeting customer satisfaction. They have already revised the optic cable for better durability and altered the mirror for better lighting. Customers praise the companies customer support, so they are serious about their product. I obviously haven't had it long enough to determine durability, but what I see so far I like.

I am not associated with nor getting any benefits from Teslong, but just think every shooter should at least look at this as a valuable addition to their cleaning kit.

Oh damn! Oh well. Back to my white paper, bright flashlight and magnifying glass.

Just don't have the tech to use it here.

to prevent copper build up ...just use cast lead instead....LOL
Looks like a great gizmo, hope it lasts well for you.
with the amount of rifles you handle it will pay for itself in no time, spotting buildup, bulges or wormskin tool marks.
thankyou for taking time to let us know.

And lead doesn't build up??? Scratch
This afternoon I found a fair bit that wasn't evident to the naked eye in my Ruger .44. And then there are the .22s...... Embarassed

I was being cheeky Mate.......heck cast load pushed by black powder = DIRTY DIRTY barrel, action and anything else metallic....... my cleaning on that particular barrel has gone really old school and seems to be working so far.
my other rifles that get cast push through them make pactches very black but they do come clean eventually,I think the good lube and gascheck helps on those.
I do like the look of the gizmo,Im just not into peering too close at the bore...if she shoots, she be good could well be my motto. that my 30 year old .270 will still do sub inch group says I cant be stuffing it up to badly.

So was I. I read your post as joking so not the least offended. Sorry if it appeared that way.

no offence taken Mate......did you see the other thread with bedding compound??? it might well be the bees knees for you. if I can use it to good effect,a craftsman like yourself could do marvelous things.

I can just see the look on the pigeon’s face... Shocked Shocked Haha Haha

Thanks SSL, this is something I have often thought about getting, but like you, the price was the governing factor. Methinks I might have to check it out on Amazon.

Elvis...removing lead from the bore can be a deceptively difficult operation. I find Ed’s Red doesn’t do a bad job mate. I also use a cordless drill on the end of my cleaning rod with a bronze brush dipped in Ed’s Red. Spin it up and move back and forth...works a treat. It even takes out the plastic buildup from wads in a shottie. Just be careful not to hit the crown with your cleaning rod.
As for cleaning the black powder residue...hot soapy water is the age old remedy. Maybe take the barrel with you into the shower at the end of the day.

A gun barrel is not the showering partner I would have in mind.

By the way...Make sure you get your mind out of the gutter so mine can float by.
