Bushy quiet
Vince, That was one hell of a ride......lot's of twists and turns
Been good........Doing a lot of fishing catch and release mostly. Smacked the back of my head with a fly though Yup, had to pull the hook outta that one Thankfully though, i pinched down the barb prior to this joyous event But it still hurt like hell!
And what's wrong with my cologne???? Just so you know......It's the expensive stuff, like what you wear......The eau de toilet cologne

Gidday mate. Wow, sounds like it was one helluva ride...not one I'd like to take.
Glad to hear that you have been catching fish. All I ever seem to do is fatten the buggers up with my bait for the next guy to catch. Oh well, at least we are starting to catch our "targeted" fish now....but they are undersize so back they go.
How did you manage to hook yourself with a fly? Did you do any damage to yourself....other than your pride that is. I've never done any fly fishing so I can't see how it would have happened. That would have been most untidy. Lucky about the barb though....would have been a real bugger to have to cut that out and maybe ruin a good fly in the process.
Thought the pong of that cologne was familiar..... . When the missus pulls me up for dropping one I politely remind her that you get your Fart License back the day you get married.
Cheers, Vince |
Hey buddy, Usually i go after whatever whenever......there's always fish to catch However, next year the wife said she's making me go to Florida and do some fly fishing.........Darn wife want's to get rid of me??? Seriously though, quite a few in my family are going to florida next year to take the kids to disney and two of the days i'll be fly fishing ALL DAY LONG
How i hooked myself is when i caught a heavy tail wind, and seeing how my casting still needs to improve, i was a bit too close in and crossed over to change directions, and then SMACK!!!!! And yeah my pride was hurt more than the few cuss words, blaming the fly, and dabing up the blood from the hole it made. Since i tie my own though, it wouldn't be too big of a loss.
And whats this about a fart license???? You mean you need a license for carrying deadly weapons of various degrees in potential????

10Ring your not the first and probably not the last to have that happen. That experiance told me one thing. BARBLESS HOOKS ONLY FOR FLY FISHING. Mind you I got lucky and it got my hat.

Bushmaster,
That is good sound advice unless your not really paying attention to the wind and enjoying the time your wasting ... I mean fishing .... and you have it happen. And I dont have eyes in the back of my head.

And I don't fly fish either...I throw heavy pieces of metal at them and pull it back. Most of the places I fish you can't fly fish anyway. Again...I say...DUCK!!!

Bushmaster,
I quit fly fishing too much work for too little reward.
Now fly tying is fun. Not too good at it though.

10Ring,
Possibly I was using the wrong baits I'm no expert at fishing
Mind you if you asked anyone I knew about me and fishing they'd tell you while "I'm fishing" I'm doing other things 90% of the time other then me actually casting the rod and fishing
The memories of last spring steelhead fishing are comming back.

LOL.....Yes Bushy, i go steelheading every year and have been for more than half my life. It's an on going joke about the magnet comment in my area, so i just as assumed it was a universal saying. Steelhead and rainbows are beautiful, but my main "go after" fish after the steelie run is Brookies (and all them damn fish are pickey....but i still manage to catch a few). After that though, i go for the fight and sheer brutal nature of carp (catch and release only). Then of course Pike, bass and panfish..........And yes Bushy, even catfish on a fly. Then it's time for the fall season of the various Salmon runs and i go after Chinook, Pinook, Coho, and Pink (pink salmon, not que pink).
But the "Mud" you speak of.....Here they are known as Mudpuppies (or Dogfish). :yuck:
