In your recollection of Navy ships. What was the line used for mooring those ships to the pier?

Did you read the web site I got my information from? They sell rope for a living. Science has evolved since the '50s but I do suspect their UV claims. How many tons does Lester's boat displace?

I am not getting into this. This was my fault for checking everything but the ropes. anchor and landing. Frankly, I have no idea what the material was in the ropes we used in the Navy, that's not what they trained me to do. My anchor ropes (300 feet) are nylon twist, and they are good to go, no rot, no issues, and are as old as the landing rope. I am not going to sponsor anything for a landing rope. It was my own stupidity.

I've been around boats of all sizes sense I was 14 (1956) until I retired in 2006. I will take my own experience with mooring, tow and anchor lines and what holds up in all weather conditions over any scientist any day. I've operated boats from 14 foot to 125 foot in both freshwater and salt water from the tropics to Alaska, from the west coast to Crete.
Love ya Suz.

Oh Bushy and I, we're just havin fun Lester, pay no heed. I for instance wouldn't know what a heed is if it struck me in the face. Bushy's putting a howser rope on his 14' dingy and I have to look things up because although I used to do a lot of sailing, I was never on a Navy boat of any sort. I could have gotten on an aircraft carrier but I was shore based at a Naval air station. He's got me on that one.
and besides
he loves me

In our emergency kits we were taught to use polypropylene rope and to stay clear of nylon because it could mildew. I do know that climbing ropes are nylon inside and out. I think they use it for the elasticity because it will break a fall without breaking the climber. Much the same reasons for the construction of parachute cord.
We keep the paracord in the pack with the poly rope too.
I have and like the polyester rope but it does change color and only stays bright white if used indoors and in dry conditions. My wife likes it because it feels softer than other ropes...

That, Vince, is nylon twist.
