Finally getting my bow hunting gear together. I have a PSE Polaris compound, left hand of course (bastard right eye!!) a stock of arrows, aluminium shaft 125 gr tips, a 'buckle adjustable' release aid, a you beaut cheap ars3d plastic tube quiver and now a Trek real tree protective bag. Bow specs are in the pic below. It should be interesting learning to use this bow.
I also still have my homemade poly pipe recurve bow that works a treat.
I'm now ready to get out there and stick some arrows into critters that are good to eat.

I wouldn't consider having arrows without them. I think these were in our banners a month or two ago.

My dumb state made those things illegal to hunt with. Claim it offers an unfair advantage tracking an animal or something.

Wow. And recovering wounded game is a bad thing how?

Ahh lighted nocks - don't get me started - I used some and lost all 5 arrows - at $35 / arrow all set up Im not getting lighted nocks again.
I can see the benefit but Ive now learnt to pick my target and to shoot with a decent backdrop so it catches arrows.
Im using Carbon shafted 400 grain arrows with a 110gr Muzzy Broadhead and get complete pass throughs on goats, including one where I stuffed the shot and canted the bow hitting the goat in the pelvis, complete pass through two lots of heavy bones (for goats) at about 15 meters and the arrow was lost lighted nock and all. I might even consider lowering the poundage so the arrows don't disappear on me.
Its all a big learning curve but one Im loving.

radar, hard to see those lighted nocks when your arrows have enough energy to burrow underground.

Well, I sprung for the new technologies this fall season. I've got lighted nocks but not near as expensive a radar paid and Rage mechanical broadheads. Now preparing for the opportunity.

I wish we could use them in my state, but the DWR deemed them illegal.

Head down to your local farm / ranch supply store and pick up a "stall mat" for horses and the like. They are 4x6ft and 3/4" thick and HEAVY. They stop arrows easily. I had to build a heavy frame out of 2x4's to hold mine up. But it works well. I think I paid $35 for mine.
