Since I have all of this extra time on my hands right now I figured I might as well spend it hunting. So of course with the Minnesota weather being unpredictable I wanted to make sure I could spend as much time out in the deer stand as I could. Well maybe I just wanted ti build a really nice stand. I started milling my own lumber about a year ago with an Alaskan chainsaw mill. Well long story short I made myself a pretty snug little stand for $65.00. I had the tin for the roof and got the 3/8" Plexiglas for the windows for $5 from a place one of my friends works from the scrap bin. All the hardware cost me $25.00, The only thing I bought was plywood for the floor, I thought I had enough 1" boards but I was wrong. SWMBO knows where the stand is so she may have come visit me and bring groceries out.

Wait a minute (WAM)!!! Black Dodge pickup with cattle guard from up North!?! Did I remember right - you're the one that has more deer kills with his truck than a rifle?

Maaaate...that looks magnificent. Only thing I can see (or can't see) that is missing is a chimney for the fireplace for those freezing winter nights.

If you are real smart, you will set up a corner with a nice comfy fart sack for those times when SWMBO kicks ya out to the doghouse.

I am going to let it weather over the winter and then paint, stain, or seal it. The boards on the outside are still green, I cut them and put them on a day or two later.

I wouldn't mind having a lazyboy up there but I would have problems staying awake. I do have a very comfy office chair up there.

Within hours of putting it up I had two nice 8 pointers walk within twenty feet of the stand. I have been cutting lumber in that area all summer so this should be no new smells.
