rifle checked out ok ,fired a few rounds and moved 3 clicks left so ready to rock n roll, came home and gave bore a good clean.
added my bed roll/sleeping mat/poofter pad to outside of pack as I figure my 43yr old bones will need it sleeping on ground for close to a week.
thought long and hard about adding the good big heavy Zeiss binos but decided to stick with smaller lighter 10x tasco compacts, yes they arent quite as clear (nothing is) and I will loose light sooner, but the scope goes to 9x and by time its getting dark I should be back at tent enjoying a cuppa tea .
4 more sleeps

Elvis, never go hunting with a clean bore. Your POI is different with a clean bore than a foul. Since you sighted in with a foul bore, you need to put one round down the pipe before you hunt. Slim

I guess that depends on your gun and ammo.

all my guns, all my ammo. 50 yards, no big deal. 100 yards, still within minute of deer. 200 yards, I don't like being off that much (1.5 to 3 inches).

ok I hear you BUT all my rifles are sighted in for that first cold clean bore.
for what its worth the first cold clean bore shot and the 2nd fired 20-30 secs later were within 1/2" of each other and 3" high..touching in fact and the 3rd I called as pulled about 1 1/2" lower
the 2 x170 grners tried next were 1" apart and just about dead on height wise
so Im very happy with that, the first load is 130 speer spbt which are there for chance of a chammy or deer for camp meat the 170s are my under 150 yards big boy knockem flat loads and the 6 x 150 grn partitions are just incase old stagasourus wont play the game and I need to stretch barrel a tad (I know from previous testing they will be 2" high
my rifle prints all loads ever tried, within 1" horizontally and 4" vertically at 100 yards, so if animal is sub 150yards I point and let her rip.
one day I will stop pissing around with different loads and just stick to 150 grn partitions...but not till Ive used up my 170s and at 1 per deer thats going to take awhile.

My guns are all sighted for the first shot as well.
It may not give me a single hole on the subsequent shots, but the one most important shot is almost guaranteed.
