That is ludicrous. I can understand their thinking (don't mean I agree with it though) about not wanting the guns on the streets...however, what State Govt can honestly afford to simply throw away in excess of half a million dollars???

They would have been far better off putting the guns up for auction among the LE community...or donate them to a different department.

Funny they blame loop holes in buying guns, why don't they just enforce the law? When politicians blame loop holes and don't produce any in evidence it's more a matter of an excuse (and it's a popular one to quote). "Dangerous people often get guns" because of loop holes? They also get knives and cars and phones, hamburgers, tacos, and milk. Seems to me we have a dangerous people problem, not a gun problem. Anyone keeping an eye on dangerous people?

they could have put them in grease and placed them in cupboard in back room for a "just in case" moment in the future...you know like a major conflict where they would be needed...in a hurry....
total waste...

When I was with the federal protective service the atf was in the same building the atf brought in a pickup load of guns and I asked them what they were going to do with them , they said they were going to chop them up, I asked why not sell they replied they did not want to mess with the paper work of selling them.

OK, so I've read everyone's post and have determined that you still believe that there is a shred of common sense in government. I am not going to say you are all deluded, but nothing the government, judges, or any elected official does ever surprises me.

Lester,
I am constantly surprised.
Surprised that some of these people can blink and breath without help.
I constantly wonder how they got elected.

They can't that's why they're politicians. Looking for or expecting anything that approaches common sense is like asking Vince to stop telling jokes, LOL.
