That is one sweet blade Gelan. I take it that it started life as a length of steel cable?

Vince, the steel starts as 6 strips each of 1095 and 15N20 steel, I forge weld them and fold weld them 4 folds to make 48 layers.
I could have go another fold but my arms are really tired by then (who needs to go to the gym), so I gave up and shape it to the way it is now.

Bushy, the masterpiece is yet to come .. It will be my last work right before I die..... one day..... in a far future... hopefully...

Pete, the client want them (this blade and the other few I made last week) to be scaled with Australian hardwood or hard burl.. so I am getting a few pieces for him to look at today.

I'm sure with your knowledge and abilities mate you are more than capable of building yourself a small mechanical hammer. They only thing you would have to worry about is the neighbours and the noise.

Yeah but the whining and groaning from his current set up is quite loud, a power hammer would possibly be quieter.......
