I know ya'll er fans of Facebook and so I just thought I'd give out some free advice to those who frequent it. You don't have to take a photo of every time your new baby breathes or smiles or looks exceptionally cute, we all remember the last breath/smile/cutesie look. Facebook makes sure we get the updated photos and little precious notes about going to the grocery store and seein a fat guy with a butt crack, the jaywalker you almost hit and how loud your husband/wife snores.
I don't know why Facebook is with us but once you sign up for it, it's Katy bar the door and you'll never get away from it. Not true actually but it's hard has heck to find out how to get away from it. I decided to opt out after a friend of mine posted a personal e-mail I sent to her on my Facebook page. Don't know how or why it happened but I decided right then that I'd had enough of Facebook.
The only way you can sign off for good is to do a Google search for it, cause you won't find out from the web site. I searched and searched the web site and it just ain't there (well I couldn't find it....). Why do people insist that you have a Facebook page....I never went there except to see what other people had put there and it was mostly people wanting to "friend" me and I don't know who they are! If you do "friend" someone it ties you into a huge network of other "friends" you don't know like multiplying rabbits and they leave you in charge. I don't need that! I don't have a clue, I don't care and I'm done with it.

Suz, thank for the advice. I haven't even visited Facebook yet. Don't think I'll even start.

I like Facebook for keeping up with what some of the family, especially distant members, is doing but it sure can be a time waster too.

went to an internet safety seminar a few years back (just before joining you lot actually) and what was said then really stuck in my mind
you post something on the net
AND ITS GONE
you are no longer in control of it even if its only up for a short space in time someone else may well have done the copy/paste thingy and poked it somewhere else
kind of like putting paper flyers all down the town then going back to remove them an hour later..some are gone!!!!
Daughter has had nasty comments thing done over the facebook and Ive seen a few other things get naasty too
teenagers are very vulnerable to negative peer pressure and faceless facebook is a easy way to snipe from cover at someone with sometimes fatal results.
take care out there.

It depends what you prefer. I am not on facebook and never will be. I do not text, twitter or tweet. All the best...

I do text, but Facebook and Twitter seem a total waste of time. I really don't care if Joe Blow is going to the can or Felicity Stuckup has a new purse. Get a life!

Anything on the net is public - even though what you post is "legally" copyrighted as soon as you post it.
I belong to a few forums - it seems this is the forum that I frequent most often - and that is enough for me. I never got involved in the very public aspect of the web as I tend to be a more private person most of the time.
My wife tells me there is a way to set up a facebook account and keep it private but I wonder just how private it really is.
That media is not for me.

I am on facebook for years after being invited by a high school friend, never do much on it.
Until mid last year when out of the blue I thought to show some of my work there.
In 6 months I get 100's of orders for stamps, knives, stencils and etching machines.
Being a trader, I find facebook is an awesome resource.
Naturally you should only put in info that you wish to be known by others and not every second breath you take.

Social media is a great source of information !!!
Just Follow (Twitter) or Like (Facebook) no need to actually interact.

I constantly tell younger folks that NOTHING on the internet (including here) is private. But many don't seem to get it.

Well I don't know how my personal e-mail got included on my Facebook page, but it won't happen again, I've been deleted YEAH! It's too confusing on there to tell what's goin on. I never posted anything on my page and it was just loaded with stuff. To me it was like a government take-over via spys.

Well While I have a facebook page I very seldom look at it . I got some libral relatives on my better half side that are on there quite a bit. figure I wont waste my breath or time titilating them. The less interaction with them the better. On a side note, I have a lot of other family that is on there and are OK.
I figure I could raise the roof fairly easy so I stay away. I can not see expending energy or time where it would just lead me down. I am too old to give a shit what they think and not going to stir the pot, though I have before and they know where I stand and that is all that matters. Oh, ya, My brother is also one, LOL I would rather go feed the birds than jack with that stuff.
