My first muzzleloader was a CVA Hawken made from a kit. I think I messed up the barrel with a buckskinners home recipe for cleaning the barrel plus my ignorance and stupidity. However, that gun could shoot. Years back I would spend the day at the range relaxing shooting round balls. Using an NRA 50 yd small bore rifle target at 100 yds off hand, it would but most in the rings and a lot of them in the black. I couldn't do that now. I would shake my head watching guys with scoped centerfire rifles shooting worse at the bench than my CVA Hawkins with iron sites shot off hand. And they would leave with it shooting like that! May not be a great gun but I had a great time shooting it!!!

What caliber is it now ?? Maybe by using a soft lead slug and one of thouse CO2 Muzzle loader unloaders. And measure it. Maybe it will be possible to use a slightly larger slug or ball ?? Confused

It's a 50 cal. Could try lapping it. Not sure how messed up it is. Also thought about getting a Green Mountain barrel.
