Very easy and efficient by the look of it.

I am really impressed. Wonder where you could get a bit like that. Motor certainly looks like 220 volt, really cool idea!

I reckon the spindle for a grinder buffing attachment would do it to a point.
OTOH a larger diameter would be better.

I would be a bit afraid that the screw might catch on a twisted grain or a knot and start spinning. Could be a bit hard on the hands and fingers.

Maybe it could use, oh say, 4 to 6 inch guides to prevent the wood from spinning, but that might limit the diameter of the wood being fed into it.

Looks like the wood he is splitting is a bit old and [next to] rotten.

I was thinking a nice solid plate for wood to be sitting on would stop the twisting if splitting rings.

The screw seem to be quite low on the working surface
The surface would then prevent the wood to rotate.
You see the user reverse the wood that failed to split in the first run.

My huntingfriend has something simular but bigger. It's without an engine and gets its power from the PTO of a tractor and sure it's dangerous to operate. But if we were all "sissys" we would'nt have found eachother on the Huntingnut... Smile

Adjustable sliding side walls would solve the spinning problem...just a matter of making them easy to adjust to save a bit of time. Otherwise, an awesome idea...a wedge is a wedge regardless if it is flat or round.

Courtesy of our mate Aloys...these pics show a tractor PTO mount wood splitter, not on a little electric motor.

And it looks like it has a bar to keep the wood from spinning too.

Could wood get jammed up between the bit and that bar?

Me killing myself with an ancient technic, might become a hit... Smile
We are having a bbq next Saturday with our hunting groupe, when I don't forget I'll ask if they could help to make a film with this zombi-machine in action. But not next Saturday! I'll try to be faster than SJ removing that stuck round, that's all I promis! I'm a little curious about it myself and what doesn't kill you can only make you smarter... Smile
Now I'm going to prepare myself... airrifles are ready and rabbits are waiting... but I don't make pictures anymore... I've already scared Stovey and a man should know when to stop (unless it's beer) Smile
