Vince, you forget religion is all about power and control, something the churches have been loosing over the last century or so.
In its fundamental form it gives a good frame work on how to live in a society, but things went way past that stage eons ago. Anyone heard of the spanish Inquisition?
The US founding fathers were an uncommon aberation amonst politicians, they had foresight, vision, uncommon sense and wanted to limit the power of the state, to set up the country they wanted to live in unlike any of the self serving filth that hold political office today ( pick a country any country).
The days of the state and church ruling the uneducated masses together absolutely are thankfully ( hopefully) over.
As to this movement getting enough traction to rewrite one of the best national constitutions in the world, I hope not, have American become that stupid?
If you dont want it send it over here and we can use it when we eventually become a republic, I dont trust any of the politicians over here to write something that important.

What they are not taking into consideration is that we each have a right to worship as we see fit.
It is a right and it can't be simply written out because the constitution doesn't give us that right - it is a gift from God. We were made with the right to choose - freedom of choice and the only thing the constitution has to do with that is the written mandate to protect that right for each individual.
It's the same with all our rights - the constitution just reminds the government that they are supposed to protect those rights.

It's a very skewed article, you only have to realize who penned it to know that extreme lefties are makin a mountain out of a mole hill. It's another what-if scenario that doesn't ring true to the intentions of the conservatives. This idea seems to all stem from a radio host and co-host, the article actually confuses the issue in more ways (like how many zucchini recipes can you have) by leading you to articles that conjure up links to people that don't have anything to do with it, (but they think they might). If you read these things and they are confusing, there's a reason for the confusion. If it's clear and concise then there's no reason to link to outside what-ifs. I've been watching the liberal tactics for quite a while and just like the news media, if you say it often enough, they will believe it, is practically their motto.
If you listen to Obama (no one likes to) you'll know he doesn't like religion, he doesn't like Christianity, he doesn't like limiting the power of the federal government and I could go on and on but the point is, this contrived attack on the conservatives wish to re-instate in God we trust in our lives and re-instate the written constitution as it was meant to be, has overblown into this scare tactic to make conservatives look like the dummies. If you note the bottom of the article it has links to (copied and pasted here) atheists, freethinkers, and secular humanists, and following that, And be sure to follow the new blog, Progressive Secular Humanist.

Time to step back and take a look at what's really going on here !!!
First off this movement isn't a "religious" endeavor.
Yes the Christian community is involved but it would be better stated as a conservative backed movement. A movement that is about putting the checks and balances back into the constitution as the founding fathers intended.
Second, this is a amendment process not a re-write.
There are some that want you to believe that this process will completely re-write our constitution. This simply is not true. Our founding fathers gave us 2 methods of amending the constitution. The first being that of congress, the second that of the states.
James Madison insisted that the states should also have this power. It was widely believed that there would come a day that the federal government may become oppressive. Madison's insistence was for a peaceful solution not another war.
For Americans United a, leftist liberal advocate group to claim it's
“actually about undermining church-state separation, stopping same-sex marriage, ending legal abortion and furthering other far-right obsessions.” just goes to show who they really are.
Regardless of ones stance on those issues it's irrelevant to what is taking place in this country. We are being driven down a path that will eventually destroy this country.
The Article 5 movement is mostly about our unsustainable debt and giving the power back to the states where it was intended to be.

A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.

I have a daughter who is a bit of a zealot. She believes that in spite of the constitution the federal government should pass laws against abortion. She is so stuck on this one "deal breaker" idea that she would vote for anyone who ran on this one concept - even if it meant giving the federal government power over our other rights and freedoms.
We have talked at some length on this topic and even though she understands that the federal government does not have to power to enact laws that outlaw abortion she wants it to be within the jurisdiction of the feds. I brought up God endowing us with free will and that no government should be able to take that right away but it doesn't matter - to her no one has the right to free choice on this matter.
Giving the feds power over any right just empowers them to take the rest.
