Hey Dimitri. I'll listen to pretty well anything.
I play the bagpipes but I love 60's and 70's rock and heavy metal.
Also like a bit of the easy listening music from the 50's and Big Band. Trad Jazz also gets a gong in my collection of music.
Enjoy listening to Metallica, Cannibal Corpse and Slipknot, don't mind a bit of Emnem and some Rap.
The band I play with do mostly AC/DC, Guns and Roses and aussie rock.
Don't mind listening to Classical and a little bit of light Opera.
The best musicians in my mind, well the ones I like anyway, are Jimmy Hendrix and Janice Joplin. They are closely followed by Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Jethro Tull.
You will notice that the remaining 2 styles don't really get a mention...Country and Western. If I have to I will listen to it, but it really doesn't do big things for me. Having said that there are some awesome C&W songs out there.
All in all, pretty well any music. How's that for diversification.
Cheers, Vince

Country and 60's. You have got to when you live in Texas and are an old California surfer .

I would have never thought
I play bass guitar and have been in bands from very heavy to heavy metal and from blues and R&B to jazz.....And i play a bit of guitar mostly enough to get me by Diverse is the perfect word though
Ya know, Sabbath was the thing in the early 80's here and then in 1982 i saw Meatllica Tainted me ever since
Although my favorite is jazz (all) and everything except very twangy country and rap i listen to.
Never had the pleasure of playing along the side of pipes though......could be quite interesting

Music??? Why the music of rifles on the range in perfect pitch and joined with the music of revolvers and pistols from the handgun range next to it...Love the smell of W-231 in the early morning, too... |
Evening Bushy, how are you mate? Enjoying the spare time or are you becoming bored already?
Mate, I would have thought that for you the perfect music would have been the sounds of the mountains...the sound of Cutter gently snuffling in the early morning crisp air, birds chirping, small critters scurrying around, a stag grunting, a doe calling to her baby, the satisfying "crack, thump" of a round as you send a round on its way and it strikes cleanly followed by the echo of the shot in the surrounding hills and finally the silence as everything stops because of the shot.
Come to think of it, that would be "music" to my ears as well.
The Symphony of Nature.

I have never liked rap, or elivator music.
LedZepplin, The doors, some Rush , Deep purple, Pink Floyed. Lynnard Skinnard.
I like old rock. some new rock.
country music is not my choice, but the song country boy can survive is good.
you know what you get when you play country music backwards ?
you get your wife back, truck back, house back, dog back.

Gidday 10Ring. It isn't easy playing alside the pipes. Apart from the fact that it sounds like a cat with its testicles caught in a bear trap and there is no volume control the pipes are a non transposing instrument.
We can't change key and our scale is different to the Western Diatonic Scale. The tones and semi-tones between notes are all different. Having said that the pipes are supposed to be B Flat but our band finds is easier to use A Sharp when I join in. The main things I do with the band are a couple of originals where I play just with the drums (makes it easy) and in the AC/DC rock anthem Its A Long Way To The Top.
I've been playing for 43 years and have played all around the world except for the Noth and South US continents. One day maybe. Whilst ever I can continue playing I will. Weddings, funerals, parties, dinners and Remembrance Days....really enjoy it.
Cheers, Vince

The Doors.....how could I forget Jim Morrison. My daughter took a pic of his grave for me when she was over in Paris last year. Love their album American Prayer. Pink Flloyd are good, have to be in the right mood to listen to them though. Their Dark Side of The Moon is a definite classic though.

Well my friend, what can i say In a world of complication, musicians adapt to their surroundings and for some, it's a universial language .....Which i guess from being in a Celtic band (only a few months though.....I didn't fit the "look" they were going for ) and personally into Ambient Music (leaning toward most of my private recordings) i guess your B Flat and A Sharp is music to my ears .
Although, and while not being able to spot read music, it's amazing what you can pick up when you venture outside a certian genre and pick up different variations of the same instrument.......like for me with a Tenor bass guitar and then moving on to a 7 and 8 string bass (single not stacked) and even trying a monster 9 string .....9 string was nice tonally, however, i put my fingers in a very uncomfortable situation with that thing
I have only played locally, did some fill recordings for a studio but that's it My biggest problem prior to me stopping all together was the weight of my rig I really wish Epifani and all the other light weight gear came out years ago because i would have traded for that instead of cash
Recently i was thinking about getting back into it though, but now i only have 1 bass and that's it with no amps or effects processors....and the kids have their needs
If ya ever do come to the states.....I want tickets.....Free would be nice
Take care
